“He did great in the car” is not the same as “he is moving great after the trip.”
That is the part people miss.
Florida summer weekends pile a lot onto a dog’s body fast: long rides, awkward SUV jumps, boat ramps, beach walks, lake houses, slick rentals, then more activity than usual once you arrive.
If your dog comes home moving a little differently, slower on the stairs, or less eager to jump back into the car, do not write it off as being tired.
Sometimes the trip did not create the issue. It exposed the compensation that was already there.
That is why we care so much about movement quality, not just whether the dog “seems okay.”
Less guessing. Less rest-only autopilot. More paying attention to what the body is actually saying.
