🎟️ THE JULY RAFFLE WINNERS ARE IN… BUT FIRST, A WORD ABOUT YOUR MULTIVITAMIN. 👀

Taking a multivitamin may be a good idea.

But not every multivitamin is created equal.

The form of the nutrients matters. The quality matters. Things like methylated forms, chelated minerals, and avoiding unnecessary fillers are some of the things I look at when choosing a supplement.

And yes… I worked that little lesson into our raffle. 😂

This month we gave away some pretty good stuff:

🥉 3rd Place: SuperBeets Heart Chews + a limited-edition Absolute Health Golden Year T-shirt

🥈 2nd Place: Mito Essentials + Golden Year T-shirt

🥇 1st Place: BOTH SuperBeets + Mito Essentials + the Golden Year T-shirt

And because this is our 20th year at Absolute Health, every winner gets one of our limited-edition shirts. 🎉

But here’s the best part…

After we picked the winners, ALL of the tickets went into the GRAND RAFFLE.

Yep. You can win now and still have a shot at the big one.

And we still haven’t told you what the grand prize is. 👀

What do you think we should give away for Absolute Health’s 20th anniversary grand prize?

Drop your guess below. ⬇️

And if you want to get in on the next raffle, come see us at Absolute Health and check out the store.

Follow along because the Golden Year celebration is just getting started.

PCOS is now being called PMOS, polyendocrine metabolic ovarian syndrome, and the new name highlights something important:

This is not just an ovarian condition.

Insulin resistance and metabolic dysfunction can be a major part of the picture.

And metformin isn’t the only tool that may influence insulin sensitivity.

Berberine has been studied for its effects on glucose and insulin metabolism, with some research also showing potential benefits in metabolic markers such as triglycerides, cholesterol, and waist measurements.

That does NOT mean berberine replaces metformin or that it is appropriate for everyone.

But if berberine is a tool you and your healthcare practitioner decide makes sense, formulation and quality matter.

At Dr. E Store, we carry:

• Berberine Complex
• Berberine HCl

Check out both options at Dr. E Store and discuss which approach makes the most sense for your individual metabolic picture.

Ask your healthcare practitioner before starting any new supplement, especially if you take prescription medications, are pregnant, are trying to become pregnant, or are breastfeeding.

🚨 BREAKING MEDICAL NEWS: Could vitamin B3 help prevent glaucoma?

A newly published study in JAMA Ophthalmology is raising an important question:

Is glaucoma only an eye-pressure problem, or could it also be a cellular energy problem?

Researchers studied patients with ocular hypertension, meaning elevated pressure inside the eye. Those with documented use of nicotinamide, also called niacinamide, had approximately a 66% lower relative risk of developing primary open-angle glaucoma.

Why might vitamin B3 matter?

Nicotinamide helps the body produce NAD+, a molecule required for mitochondrial energy production. This may be especially important for retinal ganglion cells, the highly energy-dependent nerve cells that carry visual information from the retina to the brain.

This new finding also builds on earlier small randomized human trials showing that high-dose nicotinamide may improve certain measurements of retinal function in people who already have glaucoma.

But this is not a treatment recommendation.

The new study was observational. It found an association, but it did not prove that nicotinamide prevents glaucoma, stops disease progression, or protects against permanent vision loss.

The doses being investigated in glaucoma trials are also far higher than ordinary vitamin doses and may cause serious side effects, including liver injury.

Do not stop prescribed glaucoma eye drops.

Do not replace treatment with a supplement.

And do not begin high-dose niacinamide without speaking with your ophthalmologist.

The exciting takeaway is that glaucoma research may be expanding beyond eye pressure alone.

We may have been treating glaucoma mainly as a plumbing problem, when it may also be a power problem.

Save this post and send it to someone with glaucoma, elevated eye pressure, or a family history of glaucoma.

To your health, I’m Dr. E.

You were probably told no. Here is the concern behind that warning, and why it does not hold up.

Ashwagandha appears to rev up the immune system. In studies it raised immune cells, antibodies, and a signal called interferon gamma. Since autoimmune disease involves an overactive immune system, the fear is that it throws gas on the fire.

Sounds logical. It falls apart on one point.

Autoimmune disease is not a loud immune system. It is a misaimed one. The immune system lost track of what is self and started attacking the wrong target. Raising the number of immune cells tells you nothing about what those cells are aimed at. Two different things, treated as one.

And the research points the other way. The number one cause of hypothyroidism is Hashimoto’s, which is autoimmune. The thyroid studies on ashwagandha never screened those patients out. So the same research quoted to say avoid it included autoimmune patients, and their thyroid numbers improved.

There is not one study showing ashwagandha worsens autoimmune disease. The concern is real. The conclusion is a guess.

Worth knowing: ashwagandha can raise thyroid levels, and it has been linked to rare liver injury. So this is a conversation for your own clinician, not a decision to make from a video.

A warning is not a finding.

Know someone who was told to stop taking it? Send this to them.

🚨 Your Blood Work May Be Missing Iron Deficiency

Most people think a normal hemoglobin means their iron is normal.

That’s not always true.

Iron deficiency can exist before anemia develops, and symptoms may include:

✅ Fatigue
✅ Brain fog
✅ Hair loss
✅ Restless legs
✅ Poor exercise tolerance
✅ Shortness of breath

When evaluating iron, don’t look at just one number.

A complete assessment may include:

🩸 CBC (Hemoglobin, MCV, RDW, RBC count)
🩸 Ferritin (iron storage)
🩸 Serum Iron (circulating iron)
🩸 TIBC (iron-binding capacity)
🩸 Transferrin Saturation (TSAT) (iron availability)

One important point:

Ferritin can be elevated because of inflammation, so a normal or even high ferritin doesn’t always mean your body has enough usable iron.

That’s why clinicians should interpret the entire iron panel together, along with your symptoms and medical history.

📌 Save this post for your next blood test.

💬 Have you ever been told your labs were “normal” but you still felt exhausted?

This year marks the 20th anniversary of Absolute Health.

To celebrate our Golden Year, we’ve been holding monthly raffles for members of our community who purchase through Dr. E’s Choice, with every entry also earning a chance at our year-end grand prize drawing.

This month’s winners received a combination of our limited-edition Golden Year shirts, Pro Maintenance probiotic, Essential Nutrients, and a tea gift set.

While the prizes are fun, what means the most to me is the opportunity to celebrate the incredible community that has supported us over the last two decades.

Thank you to everyone who has been part of this journey. We are grateful for the trust you’ve placed in us and look forward to continuing to serve this community for years to come.

Part 2 is here ✨

This month, three people won our limited-edition Golden Year shirts, and one winner received a shirt plus our Pro Maintenance probiotic, which some people around here claim may be the best probiotic in the universe 😄

These shirts have become a fun part of our Fridays at Absolute Health, and because this is our Golden Year, we made them available for purchase for $20 during our 20th year celebration.

More than anything, this has been such a fun way to celebrate the community that has supported us over the last two decades.

Twenty years later, I still believe healthcare is about people first.

Thank you to everyone who has been part of this journey with us.
