Spiritual History for the day:

Jan Hus Becomes a Martyr for Conscience (1415)

Jan Hus was executed on July 6, 1415, after being condemned for heresy at the Council of Constance.

Hus taught that:

Spiritual authority comes from living in truth, not merely holding religious office.
The Scriptures should be available to ordinary people in their own language.
The Church should reflect humility and integrity rather than wealth and power.

He famously said:

"Seek the truth, hear the truth, learn the truth, love the truth, speak the truth, hold the truth, defend the truth unto death."

His willingness to die rather than deny his conscience inspired later reformers, including Martin Luther. Today, many see him as a symbol of spiritual courage and authenticity.

Spiritual Reflection:

Am I living according to my deepest truth?
Where am I being called to stand with integrity, even when it is difficult?
