HomeWorks, a UMC Service

HomeWorks, a UMC Service HomeWorks is reaching beyond our walls and offering care and support at home. Whatever you are passionate about is what we are passionate about.

Abundant living at United Methodist Communities is guided by our team of associates who bring empathy and energy to their work, every day. Our associates share a special bond and connection with the people they serve and care for. We also believe that an abundant life should embrace the spiritual, emotional, physical and social aspects of one’s life. This focus on cultivating and nurturing the who

le person translates to a meaningful and enjoyable lifestyle. Life at United Methodist Communities is not the same-old, same old. An abundant life takes shape in so many ways: stretch your mind with amusing puzzles and games, hop on board as you take in an antique car show, see what’s cooking at a colorful culinary workshop, join a line dance to show off your moves. With a never-ending variety of activities and amenities you can rekindle those things you love and explore new pursuits. And best of all, you’ll have like-minded people to enjoy the memorable moments and engaging events you create at United Methodist Communities.

As our month-long celebration of ten years of HomeWorks comes to a close, we want to say the two most important words of all: thank you.

Thank you to our clients and their families, who've trusted us to care for the people they love. Thank you to our caregivers β€” the heart of everything we do β€” who show up every day with skill and compassion. And thank you to the teammates, partners, and community members who've helped shape HomeWorks over the past decade.

This special milestone belongs to all of us.

Here's to everyone who's been part of the journey, and to everything still ahead! πŸ’™

Since HomeWorks began ten years ago, we have found that the best place to manage a chronic condition is often the place you call home.

HomeWorks caregivers provide personalized support that helps older adults manage chronic conditions while maintaining their independence and quality of life.

πŸŽ‰ All month long, we've been celebrating ten years of HomeWorks β€” and this afternoon, we finally got to celebrate together in person! Teammates from across HomeWorks and UMC gathered at our Home Office in Neptune to mark this milestone together.

The program featured remarks from UMC President & CEO Mark Lenhard; UMC SVP of Programs & Services and HomeWorks co-founder Cindy Jacques; and HomeWorks Director Terra Tilden β€” each reflecting on the journey that brought us here and the decade of care behind this milestone.

The room was full of energy, gratitude, and real excitement for everything still ahead. Ten years in, HomeWorks continues to do what it's always done best: bringing abundant life to seniors across New Jersey β€” right where they call home.

Thank you to everyone who came out to celebrate. Here's to what's next. πŸ’™

HomeWorks 10th Anniversary Spotlight: Deborah Walsh πŸ’™

Deborah Walsh has been part of the HomeWorks story since day one β€” first as our Executive Director, and today as a trusted consultant who continues to help guide our work.

Ask her what she's most proud of, and it isn't any single milestone. It's the journey: watching HomeWorks grow from an idea into a mission and seeing just how many lives it has touched along the way.

Ten years in, Deborah still carries the same belief that started it all: that great care changes people's lives. Most of all, she's grateful for the HomeWorks team, the people who make it all possible, day in and day out.

HomeWorks 10th Anniversary Spotlight: Terra Tilden πŸ’™

Terra Tilden has spent her entire nursing career in home care β€” the last seven of them leading HomeWorks as our Director.

Ask her why she works in home care, and the answer is simple: it's one-on-one. No competing workloads, no divided attention. Just care built around one person's needs.

Ten years in, she's proudest of the HomeWorks team β€” and we're just as grateful for her! πŸ˜€

HomeWorks Client Spotlight: Lois Force πŸ’™

Lois devoted her life to caring for seniors. When the time came where she needed care herself, HomeWorks was honored to be there for her.

Her connection to the UMC Family began in 1989 with a $10 donation to the UMC Foundation. In the decades that followed, Lois championed safe, affordable housing for older adults.

Before her passing in 2023, Lois left a $400K bequest to the UMCF β€” the first legacy gift ever made by a HomeWorks client.

Knowing and caring for Lois was a privilege. Her generosity will continue to impact the lives of NJ seniors for many years to come. πŸ’™

Ten years of HomeWorks means ten years of caregivers who go above and beyond. Today, we're celebrating one of them! 🌟

We'd like to congratulate Joshua, HomeWorks' July Caregiver of the Month. Patient, warm, and always attentive to his clients, Joshua brings the same compassion and dedication that's been at the heart of HomeWorks for the past decade.

Thank you for all that you do, Joshua! πŸ’™
