Final plans are now in place regarding Lt. Isai Huerta’s funeral.

The Odessa Fire Rescue family, along with the City of Odessa and the community it serves, will gather to honor Lt. Isai Huerta during a funeral service on Tuesday, June 23, at 1:00 p.m. at the Ector County Coliseum. This special event is open to the public. Those planning to attend are encouraged to arrive no later than 10:30 a.m. to allow plenty of time for parking and seating. It is recommended that you park in the parking lots near the former Permian Playhouse.

A procession will begin at 11:30 a.m. around 15th Street and Harless Avenue.

Memorial Procession Route:
15th Street to Harless Avenue
Harless Avenue to W. 2nd Street
W. 2nd Street to Golder Avenue
Golder Avenue to W. 7th Street
W. 7th Street to N. Grant Avenue
N. Grant Avenue to the south main entrance of the Ector County Coliseum (4201 Andrews Highway)

Motorists should expect periodic traffic delays beginning around 11:00 a.m. Around the Ector County Coliseum (4201 Andrews Highway), those delays could continue until approximately 3:30 p.m.

After the procession, the plan is to open the Ector County Coliseum once again for people to park before the funeral. Note: All times are subject to change.

The following areas will be closed periodically (11:00 a.m. - 3:30 p.m.):

Andrews Highway (U.S. 385) between 38th Street to 52nd Street
42nd Street between N. Golder Avenue to N. Dixie Boulevard

Motorists should expect some delays on all major thoroughfares.

Alternate Routes:
For east-west travel, motorists are encouraged to use:

University Boulevard
2nd Street
Yukon Road

For north-south travel, consider:

Grandview Avenue
West County Road routes

Community members wishing to pay their respects and watch the procession may do so from the Odessa City Hall parking lot (411 W. 8th Street). It’s expected that it could take place sometime between 11:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. Access to the parking lot should be from 8th Street, as 7th Street will be closed.

City offices will be closed on Tuesday, June 23, in observance of Lt. Huerta's funeral service. City Hall will reopen at 5:00 p.m. for the regularly scheduled City Council Meeting, which will begin at 6:00 p.m. In his honor, the City of Odessa will also keep flags at half-staff until sunset on the day he is laid to rest.

We appreciate the public's patience and cooperation as our community honors the life and service of Lt. Isai Huerta.
