Ronnie Lynn Money
Lynn Money age 79 passed away on July 28, 2026 at his residence in Odessa,Texas.
A memorial service will be held on Sunday August 2, 2026 at 2PM at Sherwood Church of Christ, Odessa Texas. Following the service the family will be available for visitation in the Multipurpose Building where there will be refreshments provided and plenty of space to visit and gather. Arrangements are in the capable and caring hands of Sunset Memorial Gardens and Funeral Home.
Lynn Money was born at home on an oil lease outside of Royalty, Texas on June 5, 1947 to Troy and Grace Money. He was the youngest of seven children and grew up as an agemate to many of his nieces and nephews. Most of his young life and youth was spent in Wickett, Texas—a hometown he was proud of and told stories about all his life.
He graduated from Monahans High School with the class of 1965. He attended San Angelo State University and University of Texas of the Permian Basin. He married Sherilyn King on July 21, 1967 whom he first met in 7th grade social studies. They marked 59 years married in the week before his passing.
After a few years of study and work in San Angelo, Texas, Lynn and Sherilyn moved home to Monahans where he took his first ministry position at the 3rd & Dwight St. Church of Christ. This was the beginning of a life-long career in ministry and community service. Following his years of ministry in Monahans, Lynn and Sherilyn served youth and families in Hobbs New Mexico, Odessa, Texas, and Sterling City, Texas.
He was a long-time member of Odessa Downtown Lion’s Club serving as Vice-President, President and song leader over the years. Supporting his daughters, he served as a Band Booster Club officer for both Nimitz Junior High and Permian High School.
Lynn is preceded in death by his parents, five brothers and one sister, 3 nephews, one niece and daughter Linda Redeker.
Lynn is survived by his wife, Sherilyn Money of Odessa, Texas; daughter Cheryl Cash of Denver, Colorado, and daughter Cherise Procter of Midland, Texas. Also: brother Clovis Money and wife Jamie of Ft Worth, Texas; brother (in-law) Tommy King and wife Pat of Junction, Texas; grandson Dustin Baker of Lubbock Texas, granddaughter Allison Howell and husband Chase of Lubbock, Texas; granddaughter Kinley Koonce and husband Trevor of Searcy, Arkansas; grandson Alex Cash and wife Melissa of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; grandson Isaac Cash and wife Jordan of London, England; grandson Silas Cash of Ft Benning, Georgia; grandson Bryson Procter of Midland, Texas; grandson Cason Procter of Nashville, Tennessee; and granddaughter Presley Procter of Midland, Texas. Lynn has 8 great-grandchildren: Bailey, Jackson, Sophia and Charlie Baker, Avery, Brooke and Weston Howell and Elowyn Koonce. He is also survived by beloved nephews, nieces, cousins and many friends.
Honorary Pall Bearers are his nephews Carlon King, Jeff King, and Tanner King as well as his grandsons and grandson-in-law.
Memorials may be given to West Texas Gifts of Hope, Midland Christian School and Odessa Christian School.
The family of Lynn Money wishes to extend their deepest thanks to Hospice of Midland especially Bernadette, Kathy, Reyes, Clark and Zelda whose compassionate care greatly eased the burden of Lynn’s final months. The family also wishes to thank the countless others who have prayed for and encouraged Lynn and Sherilyn over the last year especially.
When people in his community needed spiritual support and care Lynn was very often the first call. His listening ear, easy presence and genuine love for everyone in his life, brought people to him especially in their most tender moments and milestones. In the days since his passing his family has found comfort in recalling his deep faith, his hilarious sayings, and replaying recordings of his guitar playing and songs. Of all the things he is known for that clear tenor voice singing of victory in Jesus and the most amazing grace, will continue to echo among us to the glory of God.
