Cryo is one of my favorite therapies. I love that it’s quick to do because horses can be like toddlers with their attention span and I love how results are almost instant. If you’d ever thought about doing Cryo on your equine buddy, let me know! I travel with my machine!!!
🐎 What it is:
Equine cryotherapy is a non-invasive, therapeutic technique using extreme cold (often pressurized C02 or liquid nitrogen) to rapidly lower skin temperature, reducing inflammation, pain, and swelling in horses.
✅ How it works:
Cryotherapy works by cooling the tissues, which constricts blood vessels. Constricting blood vessels reduces blood flow, which allows for less heat and inflammation. It also reduces pain by numbing the area.
Once the cold therapy stops, the tissues will gradually become warm again. As this happens, blood flow will improve, which can help to speed up healing and reduce pain.
🗺️ Locations:
Equine cryotherapy is used to reduce inflammation, pain, and swelling in horses, primarily targeting legs, joints, and muscles to aid in recovery and performance. Key areas include lower limbs (fetlocks, pasterns, hooves/laminitis), hocks, stifles, shoulders, and the back or neck.
👏🏼 Key Benefits:
-Inflammation Reduction
-Pain Management
-Faster Rehabilitation
-Performance Enhancement
