Your heart has four valves that keep blood flowing in the right direction. When a valve becomes narrowed or starts leaking, your heart may have to work harder to pump blood throughout your body.

The good news? There are several treatment options available, and the right choice depends on your individual needs.

Heart valve disease treatment options like repair or replacement depend on valve type, severity, age and overall health. Learn more with Banner Health.

We believe caring for a community goes beyond the care we provide inside the hospital.

It's supporting local events.
It's partnering with organizations that make a difference.
It's showing up for our neighbors.
It's helping create healthier communities, together.

Across Banner Health, our teams are proud to be part of the places we call home. From community events and health education to local partnerships and outreach, we're grateful for every opportunity to connect with the people we serve.

Because when our communities are stronger, we're all healthier.

Behind every patient visit is a team working to help make care safe, effective and reliable, from infection prevention and patient safety to quality improvement, risk management and compliance.

During Healthcare Quality Week, Oct. 18–24, we're recognizing the people whose work often happens behind the scenes but makes a meaningful difference in the care our patients receive.

Thank you to the teams who are constantly asking, "How can we make this better?" and working every day to help our patients receive the quality care they deserve.

Not every health concern requires a trip to the emergency room. But knowing when you do need emergency care can make all the difference.
A simple way to think about it:

🚨 Emergency room: For serious or potentially life-threatening illnesses and injuries.
🏥 Walk-in or same-day care: For non-life-threatening illnesses and injuries that need prompt attention.
🩺 Primary care: For routine care, preventive services and ongoing health needs.

When you're unsure, your primary care team can help you understand where to go for the care you need. And if you are experiencing a medical emergency, call 911.

Halloween should be all treats and no trips to the hospital! 👻

Our trauma nurses here at Ogallala have a few simple reminders to help keep little ghosts, superheroes and witches safe this Halloween:

🔦 Be seen: Choose bright or reflective clothing and carry a flashlight when trick-or-treating after dark.
🚗 Watch for traffic: Use sidewalks when available, cross at designated crosswalks and remind kids to look both ways before crossing the street.
🍬 Check treats: Take a quick look at candy and other treats before enjoying them. Make sure packages are sealed and throw away anything that looks damaged or suspicious.
🎭 Keep costumes safe: Make sure costumes fit properly and don’t drag on the ground. Avoid masks or accessories that could block vision.
🔥 Think about fire safety: Keep costumes, decorations and other materials away from candles, heaters and open flames.
👟 Slow down: Excitement is part of Halloween, but running on uneven sidewalks, stairs or unfamiliar terrain can lead to falls.

A few extra precautions can help make sure Halloween memories are the fun kind.

From our trauma team to your family, have a safe and happy Halloween! 🎃

For one Ogallala family, Christopher Wong, MD, has been part of some very important moments.

Between 2018 and 2026, Dr. Wong had the privilege of delivering all four children in the same family. It’s a meaningful example of the trusted relationships our providers build with patients and families over time.

We’re grateful to this family for allowing us to share their story and to Dr. Wong for continuing to care for families in the Ogallala community. 💙

Taking care of yourself isn't just about physical health. Making time to check in with yourself, talk with someone you trust and seek support when you need it can be an important part of your overall well-being.

If you're struggling, you don't have to figure everything out on your own. Consider talking with your primary care provider about what you're experiencing and what resources may be available to you.

This World Mental Health Day, let's make space for conversations about mental health and remind ourselves that asking for help is a sign of strength.
