BREIF is seeking two individuals interested in becoming certified Adult Mental Health First Aid Instructors to support a new mental‑health initiative in Essex County. This opportunity is ideal for community‑minded people who want to play a key role in expanding mental‑health awareness, education, and early‑intervention skills across the region.

Who is BRIEF?

Building Resilience in Essex Families (BRIEF) is Essex County's System of Care, bringing together community partners, organizations, schools, healthcare providers, agencies, individuals, and families to strengthen mental health, wellness, and resilience across the county. Our work is guided by the belief that everyone deserves access to the support, resources, and connections they need to thrive.
BRIEF promotes a proactive, community-based approach that focuses on education, collaboration, and prevention. We work to build protective factors, reduce stigma surrounding mental health, and empower individuals and families through training, community engagement, and resource development.
Through partnerships across Essex County, BRIEF coordinates and supports initiatives such as Mental Health First Aid, Teen Mental Health First Aid, QPR Su***de Prevention, trauma-informed care education, resilience-building programs, and community wellness initiatives. We also lead projects like the Social Connections Mapping Initiative, helping towns identify and strengthen opportunities for connection, belonging, and community engagement.

BRIEF does not provide services. BRIEF serves as a convener and connector—bringing people and organizations together to identify needs, share resources, address gaps, and develop sustainable solutions that improve the well-being of Essex County residents of all ages.
Our vision is that all individuals and families in Essex County reach their full potential and achieve wellness. Through collaboration, education, and innovation, BRIEF is building stronger, more connected, and more resilient communities throughout Essex County.
