Halloween is a time for costumes, candy and fun, but safety should always be part of the celebration.

Whether you're trick-or-treating or welcoming visitors to your home, keep these safety tips in mind:

-Check treats: Inspect children's candy before they eat it. Avoid treats with open or damaged packaging.
-Drive carefully: Slow down in neighborhoods and watch for children crossing streets.
-Stay alert: Put phones away while walking and pay attention to traffic and your surroundings.
-Prevent burns: Keep costumes and decorations away from candles, open flames and other heat sources.

Taking a few simple precautions can help prevent injuries and keep the focus on making Halloween memories.

If an accident happens and you or a loved one experiences a serious injury or medical emergency, visit your nearest HCA Florida Healthcare emergency room (ER) for care. For life-threatening emergencies, call 911: https://bit.ly/47UAswG.

Every breath counts, and respiratory therapists help make lifesaving care possible. During Respiratory Care Week, HCA Florida Healthcare joins our broader HCA Healthcare network to recognize the important role respiratory therapists (RTs) play in caring for patients and supporting care teams.

With specialized training in lung and respiratory care, RTs provide expert care during critical moments — from emergency care and intensive care to recovery and ongoing support.

As part of HCA Healthcare, RTs collaborate with care teams across a network that supported approximately 47 million patient encounters in 2025, including 10 million emergency room visits. Through their clinical skill, compassion and collaboration, they help care for patients when it matters most.

To our RTs across HCA Healthcare, thank you for the specialized care you provide through critical moments.

Celebrating Case Management Week! 🧡

Navigating healthcare can leave patients and families with a lot of questions, especially about what comes next. Thankfully, they don't have to figure it all out on their own.

Our case managers are here to make the journey a little easier. Working alongside doctors, nurses and other care team members, they help coordinate care, connect patients and families with valuable resources and plan for a safe transition home or to the next level of care.

This Case Management Week, we're proud to recognize our case management team for the compassion and dedication they bring to every patient interaction. Thank you for making a difference and ensuring patients and families feel supported, informed and confident every step of the way!

Looking forward means investing today to meet the healthcare needs of tomorrow. 🏥

HCA Florida Raulerson Hospital is proud to break ground on a more than $21 million expansion of our emergency room – an investment that will strengthen emergency care for Okeechobee and the surrounding communities for years to come.

Expected to be completed by the end of 2027, the project will add approximately 6,000 square feet and increase our emergency room from 14 to 25 beds, including dedicated trauma and behavioral health spaces.

Our emergency room cared for more than 30,000 patients in both 2024 and 2025. This expansion will help us increase capacity, improve patient flow and continue providing timely, high-quality care close to home.

As our community grows, we’re looking forward and growing with it – continuing our commitment to the care and improvement of human life.
