Bay Minette Police are already seeing results from the MyCare iPad program, which allows officers to connect people experiencing a mental health crisis directly with clinicians at AltaPointe Health through an iPad in the field.

Just days after equipping police with MyCare iPads in the field, officers had already helped two people get the services they needed rather than entering the criminal justice system.

AltaPointe says about 72% of crisis calls result in people being connected to treatment and support.

Everyone deserves support that is accessible and consistent, but also built around their real life. For people in rural communities, getting to an appointment is not so simple. Distance, access to transportation, childcare or work conflicts can all create barriers for follow-up care.

Sometimes mental health is more than awareness and more about accessibility. We strive to do both as we work with behavioral health partners to provide an easier access to care.

Mental health care should be reachable, supported and connected no matter where someone lives.

Just wrapped up some CIT training down at Canadian Valley Technology Center’s Basic Peace Officer Certification (BPOC) class. Great group and an even better day connecting with folks who are doing important work in the field every day!
