For Khawaja Akhtar, M.D., caring for patients starts with listening. He believes compassionately hearing a patient’s concerns can ease some of the fear and uncertainty that often comes with a serious heart condition.

As an interventional cardiologist, Dr. Akhtar treats acute and chronic blockages in the blood vessels of the heart and legs. His work can include helping patients through major heart attacks as well as treating chronic blockages that may cause chest pain and limit everyday activities.

His goal is to provide patients with up-to-date recommendations while helping them understand their options, make informed decisions and work toward a life less limited by their symptoms.

Cardiologist George Chrysant, M.D., is currently earning his MBA at The University of Texas at Dallas while continuing to care for patients.

As part of the Global Healthcare course, he traveled abroad to gain firsthand insight, visiting CERN (the European Organization for Nuclear Research), the World Health Organization and the United Nations, where he met with scientists and global leaders.
