Let’s talk about anger. Anger Is a secondary feeling, often driven by feelings of fear (anxiety), disrespect, guilt, shame, etc. Anger can be a positive and negative emotion.

1) What has anger stolen from you? Maybe a marriage? Your health? Time away from your kids or family?

-Did you know that anger actually drives you towards what arouses you unlike anxiety and depression?
-Did you know that is a conditioned response?
-did you know it can become a habit?
-Did you know long term stress hormones from anger can impact the prefrontal cortex and hippocampus? These areas are known for decision-making and memory.

Immediate actions to combat anger can include deep breathing, grounding techniques, and removing yourself from the situation until body is calm.

Long term actions include counseling combined with immediate actions. We cannot take anger out completely, but we can change how it affects you and how you respond (often explored during counseling).

While social media has a role in our lives every day, please be careful with facts vs opinions and experiences. Every situation is different and it’s important to have a trained healthcare provider provide accurate information and treatment

Studies have shown most information on TikTok related to ADHD and autism spectrum disorder is inaccurate, especially when it comes from non-healthcare providers. In a new study, the same has been found to be true for OCD!

"Content creator type (health care professionals [HCPs], individuals with lived experiences, and others) was determined. Of the 117 analyzed videos, 64 (54.7%) were accurate, 31 (26.5%) overgeneralizing, and 22 (18.8%) inaccurate. HCP-created videos were significantly more accurate (82.1% accurate) than non-HCP-created ones (individuals with lived experiences: 63.6% accurate; others: 35.7%). Reach metrics did not vary significantly across accuracy levels and creator types. Videos analyzed were moderately understandable, and accurate videos were significantly more understandable. However, actionability was low overall. Results suggest that misinformation about OCD on TikTok is common and is being disseminated almost as widely as accurate information."

Generational trauma is a thing and has higher consequences such as violence; poor relationships; lower self esteem/confidence; mental health issues such as anxiety, depression, ptsd.

You can break the cycle by
individual therapy: healthy boundaries for yourself and others, healthy daily routines, self esteem, trauma work and coping skills. Work on attachment.
Family therapy: family systems and healthy boundaries.
