ποΈπ¦ What do cardboard walls, tape on the floor and a hospital renovation have in common?
At SSM Health St. Anthony Hospital, our physicians, care teams and partners at Miller Architects are using full-scale cardboard mock-ups to test the design of future patient care spaces before construction begins. This innovative approach, called Integrated Facility Design, allows teams to walk through rooms, evaluate workflows and make adjustments before the first permanent wall is built.
KFOR-TV reporter Austin Breasette recently visited our campus to see the process firsthand and learn how this unique planning method is helping us create spaces that better serve patients, families and caregivers.
As Dr. Vinodh Jeeva, Cardiology Department Chair, shared, "It's easier to move a cardboard wall than a concrete wall." By testing and refining designs early, we're building smarter, more efficient spaces that support exceptional patient care.
