Have you found yourself taking on more of the caregiving role for a parent, spouse, or other loved one this year?

For many families across the Oklahoma City metro, becoming a caregiver happens gradually. A few errands turn into helping with meals, appointments, personal care, or simply making sure someone you love is safe at home.

Caring for someone you love can be incredibly meaningful—but it can also be exhausting. And needing a little help doesn’t mean you’re stepping away from your role as a caregiver.

HomeWell Care Services of Oklahoma City offers respite care that gives family caregivers time to rest, run errands, spend time with their own families, or simply recharge while knowing their loved one is in caring hands.

Whether you need a few hours of support or more regular assistance, we’re here to help your family find a solution that works.

When Mom Moved In... we all had to learn a new normal.

After Cheryl's dad passed away, her mom left the Missouri town she'd called home her entire life and moved to Oklahoma City to live with Cheryl and her husband.

In this week's The Aging Well Guide, Cheryl shares what they've learned about living together—the blessings, the adjustments, the importance of boundaries, and even a little caregiver guilt.

Her biggest lesson?

Moving a parent isn't a single decision. It's hundreds of little decisions that happen over time.

Sometimes a few hours of help isn't enough. And sometimes, both people in the home need support.

At HomeWell Care Services of Oklahoma City, our care can be built around what your family actually needs, including 24-hour care and Couples Care.

Our 24-hour care provides continuous support through changing caregiver shifts, so someone can be there during the day, overnight and in those moments when help is needed most.

And for couples who want to continue aging at home together, Couples Care can provide personalized support for one or both partners. That means less of the caregiving burden falling on a spouse, and more opportunity to simply be husband and wife again.

Whether it's help with personal care, meals, mobility, fall prevention, companionship, housekeeping or the everyday routines of life, we'll work with your family to develop care around your needs.

Home doesn't stop being home just because you need more help.

If you're wondering what 24-hour or couples care could look like for your family, give us a call.

Planning for the future isn't always easy, but it's one of the greatest gifts you can give yourself and your family.

On Financial Awareness Day, we encourage Oklahoma City families to think beyond retirement savings and include a plan for aging well. Many families are surprised to learn that the cost of long-term care can have a significant impact on retirement, especially if planning begins only after a health crisis.

The good news? There are resources that may help. From VA benefits for eligible veterans and their spouses to long-term care insurance and flexible in-home care options, planning ahead can provide greater financial security and more choices down the road.

At HomeWell Care Services Oklahoma City, we're happy to help families understand their options and connect them with resources that can make aging at home more affordable.

"The Conversation You've Been Avoiding"

"Mom says she's fine."
"Dad insists he doesn't need any help."

If you've heard those words, you're not alone.

For many Oklahoma City families, the hardest part isn't providing care, it's starting the conversation.

The best time to talk about aging at home isn't after a fall, a hospital stay, or an emergency. It's while your loved one can still be part of the decisions.

At HomeWell Care Services, we believe planning ahead gives families more choices, less stress, and better outcomes.

If you've been wondering how to start that conversation, we're happy to help.

What happens when you're caring for aging parents... while still raising the next generation?

There was a season in Cheryl Hooper's life that lasted several years. She was working full-time as a pre-K teacher, helping her daughter plan her wedding, caring for her grandson, supporting her father in Missouri through the VA, and helping her mother-in-law care for her father-in-law as dementia slowly changed their lives. It was a season filled with love. It was also a season filled with guilt, exhaustion, difficult decisions, and the feeling that there was never enough time to be everything everyone needed.

Many people know this as the Sandwich Generation. Cheryl calls it the Silver Sandwich.

In this week's edition of The Aging Well Guide with Cheryl Hooper, she shares the deeply personal story that ultimately inspired her to open HomeWell Care Services—and the lessons she hopes every family caregiver can learn before they find themselves in the middle of it. If you've ever wondered whether you're doing enough for the people you love, this article is for you.

💙 Because caregiving isn't about doing everything yourself.

It's about making sure no one has to do it alone.

Caring for a spouse, parent, or other loved one is one of the greatest acts of love, but even the most devoted family caregiver needs a break.

Caregiver burnout is real. The physical exhaustion, emotional stress, and constant responsibility can take a toll on your own health and well-being. The truth is, you don't have to do it all by yourself.

That's where HomeWell Care Services can help.

Whether you need a few hours each week to run errands, attend appointments, get some much-needed rest, or simply recharge, our compassionate caregivers can provide the support your loved one deserves while giving you the peace of mind you need.

Taking care of yourself isn't selfish, it's one of the best ways to continue taking care of someone else.

If you or someone you know is feeling overwhelmed by the demands of caregiving, we'd love to talk about how we can help.
