πΏ Feeling stressed or stuck in βfight-or-flightβ? Your body has a built-in calm-down pathway! π
The vagus nerve is a major communication pathway between your brain and body. It helps support your heart rate, breathing, digestion, and relaxation response. Gentle diaphragmatic breathing: especially with a longer exhale: can signal safety to your nervous system and support stress resilience.
Try 4:6 breathing right now! β¨
1. Sit comfortably and relax your shoulders.
2. Place one hand on your chest and one on your abdomen.
3. Breathe in slowly through your nose for 4 seconds. Let your abdomen gently expand.
4. Exhale slowly for 6 seconds, as if softly blowing through a straw.
5. Repeat for 5 rounds, staying relaxed and comfortable.
π± Thereβs no need to force your breath. If you feel lightheaded, pause and return to your natural breathing. This simple practice may help create a moment of relief and balance: but you donβt have to manage ongoing stress alone.
