Background

From a young age, I was aware of how people with chronic illness can suffer. My mother was diagnosed with Crohn's disease before I was born and endured excruciating symptoms for 15 years. The standard conventional medicine approach to Crohn's then was much the same as it is now - prescribe steroids to lessen symptoms and wait until the colon needs to be removed surgically. Scientifically valid, effective supplemental and nutritional therapies were scoffed at by her doctors as not worth pursuing. The number of patients with chronic illness under my care who have successfully gone into symptom-free remission is a constant reminder of how inadequate a one-dimensional approach to patient care can be. I graduated from Cleveland Chiropractic College at the age of 23 and have been active in continuing education to ensure that I have the latest tools and resources available. I specialize in treating those who are told by other doctors that there is no treatment, who are told that they will helplessly watch their chronic condition progress and there is nothing they can do. Philosophy

Headlines abound that promise 'Gut-health,' 'The One Supplement To Heal Your Joint Pain' and 'The Diet To Heal Your Autoimmune Disease' - giving the impression that you just have to do or buy one thing to heal. My new patient appointments are an hour-long because it's all important. Your diet, environment, emotional health, supplements, family history, and patient history since birth - it's all relevant when we are unraveling an illness that, most likely, took decades to create. The testing and nutritional medicines you receive will be completely unique to you as a patient. I do not have a 'one size fits all' treatment plan, as you heal we will adjust your treatment based on your renewed health goals.

Healing doesn’t always have to be complex. Sometimes, it can begin in the small, steady moments that remind the body it is safe to soften, receive, and restore.

A resilient nervous system is not merely defined by how well it moves through symptoms, stress, fear, or overwhelm. It is also reflected in our capacity to fully experience what is good — to feel joy, ease, connection, hope, and possibility without immediately bracing for the feeling to disappear.

In this clip from Part 5 of “From Recovery to Resilience: Rewiring the Nervous System,” Dr. Brian Lum explores how we can intentionally practice becoming more available to experience positive emotional states.

The complete five-part Facebook Live series is available to rewatch on our Vimeo page at the link below.

We are excited to conclude “From Recovery to Resilience: Rewiring the Nervous System,” our free 5-part interactive Facebook Live series with Dr. Brian Lum.

This week, we continue with Part 5: “Cultivating Nervous System Resilience,” where Dr. Lum will bring together the concepts and practices explored throughout the series and guide us through how we can support a nervous system that is more adaptable, regulated, and resilient.

The goal is not simply to recover, but to move beyond recovery — to cultivate the capacity, vitality, and freedom to live more fully. This is the deeper sense of empowerment Dr. Lum hopes to provide through this series.

Throughout this series, Dr. Lum has shared an innovative approach to nervous system rewiring, including strengthening the structure, releasing tension, repatterning movement, fine-tuning the senses, and integrating these elements to create meaningful, lasting change.

Because this final session builds on the themes explored throughout the series, those who attended the previous parts may find it especially valuable. That said, even if you were not able to join us for Parts 1-4, you are still very welcome to attend Part 5!

We have loved building this community, learning together, and hearing about your experiences along the way. We are so excited to bring everything together with you in our final session.

Thursday, July 30th at 11 AM PST / 2 PM EST

Please select “Going” or “Interested” on this Facebook Event page to help us get a better sense of attendance for Part 5.

Since each live in the series has its own event page, we kindly ask that you mark your attendance here even if you already responded to a previous event.

We can’t wait to see you there!

A clip from last week’s Facebook Live with Dr. Brian Lum, the fourth session in our free 5-part series, “From Recovery to Resilience: Rewiring the Nervous System.”

Throughout this series, Dr. Lum is guiding us through both education and experiential exercises to better understand, support, and rewire the nervous system.

In Part 4, “Fine-Tuning the Senses,” Dr. Lum shared a fascinating research study involving hotel housekeepers who were told that the physical work they were doing cleaning hotels qualified as excellent exercise. After receiving this information, the participants experienced measurable physiological changes in just 4 weeks, despite reporting no meaningful changes to their actual work, exercise, or diet — highlighting the influence of our beliefs and perceptions on the body’s response.

This week, we continue with the fifth and final session in the series.

Join us live on Thursday, July 30th at 11am PST / 2pm EST.

Thank you so much to everyone who joined us for Part 4. We can’t wait to see you for Part 5!

(And even if you weren’t able to join us for the previous sessions, you are still more than welcome to attend Part 5!)

Stay tuned for the Facebook Event link coming soon.

Part 4 (and all previous parts in the series) are available to watch on our Vimeo page at the link below:

We are excited to continue “From Recovery to Resilience: Rewiring the Nervous System,” our free 5-part interactive Facebook Live series with Dr. Brian Lum.

This week, we continue with Part 4: “Fine-Tuning the Senses,” where Dr. Lum will guide us through how sensory input can shape nervous system function and how we can begin working with the senses more intentionally to support regulation and resilience.

Throughout this series, Dr. Lum is sharing an innovative approach to nervous system rewiring, including strengthening the structure, releasing tension, repatterning movement, fine-tuning the senses, and bringing these elements together to cultivate greater resilience.

Because each session builds on the last, we recommend attending as consistently as possible to get the most out of the full series. That said, if you were not able to join us for Parts 1, 2, or 3, you are still very welcome to join us for Parts 4 and 5!

You will leave with a clearer understanding of how the nervous system impacts health, along with actionable tools and exercises you can begin applying during the series and continue practicing between sessions and long after the series ends.

Thank you to everyone who joined us for Parts 1, 2, and 3. We are so excited to continue building this community and diving deeper together in Part 4.
