It has been a while. After nearly a year, we finally sold our home and studio space in Old Chatham and moved into our little sanctuary in Ghent. Life has become quieter here, waking up to birdsong and watching the girls sit by the pond with their tiny fishing hooks, mostly feeding the fish instead of catching them, completely happy and content.

These past few months have been full of moving and listening for what wants to come next.

And now, we are so happy to return to the community.

Sound Meditation is coming back to PS21 every Sunday from 10:00am to 11:15am beginning May 24th. We will be traveling quite a bit this summer, so please check the PS21 website for the full schedule and updates.

We will also be offering a few intimate Extended Sound Journeys at our sanctuary on 7/11, 7/25 and 8/1. If you feel called to join, please send us a DM or email us.

I led my first ever yoga retreat in 2019 in the sacred Valley of Peru and I am excited to return to the land, the culture and the people who touched my heart so many years ago.
I will be joined by my best friend and teacher who has studied yoga and shamanism for over 20 years.
We will also be in Cusco for the Inti Raymi or “The Festival of the Sun” to witness the ceremonies that have been passed down since the time of the Incas.

Hello friends!

Living in Santa Monica, for most of my adult life, I am so grateful to have been exposed to a wide range of teachers. Some taught yoga, others bio-mechanics, mobility or meditation.

Though each technique is called by a different name, on a deeper level, they are the same. Each is a practice of connection.

As students, we listen to our bodies from different perspectives, and use our yoga mat as a laboratory for self inquiry.

There is a lot of noise in the fitness and movement world. Many ideas seem to contradict each other and it can be difficult to navigate whether our practice is serving us or hurting us.

This upcoming retreat is a chance to ask questions, to explore answers, to learn from each other and ourselves.

We will discuss ideas and principles behind movement, anatomy, and bio mechanics that have changed my practice on the mat, as well as the way I move and live off the mat.

We will also talk about the science of sound, meditation and experience the relationship of sound and sensation. The more sensitive we are, and the more in tune with our bodies would become, the more we can create harmony within ourselves and the world around this.

This Sunday, November 9, we’ll gather at Empty Space Studio to honor Lidong 立冬, the start of winter in the traditional Chinese solar calendar. It reminds us to honor the quiet work of rest and preparation. Just like the roots of plants storing energy beneath the soil, our bodies and spirits can gather strength and warmth in stillness.
 Together with Meghan Forrest, L.Ac., Dipl. AC, we will begin with a one-hour sound meditation. During the meditation, each participant will receive ear seeding, a subtle and grounding practice from Traditional Chinese Medicine that supports emotional balance and calm.

After our time in sound, Anna will offer a short talk on seasonal wellness and share ways to care for the body through the rhythm of winter. Together we will taste warming foods and healing teas inspired by TCM principles to nourish our inner energy and resilience.

We’ll also be preparing hand-blended tea bags (Yes the famous fan favorite tea) for everyone to take home, filled with herbs that warm, ground, and support the body through the colder months, a little ritual to continue the care after you leave.

Hi friends, it’s us again!

I have to admit I haven’t been the best at posting lately. I’ve set a five-minute daily limit on social media to stay more present and less on my phone.

This summer was such a joy as we traveled, shared sound, and met so many of you. Now that the air is turning crisp, we’re back home in upstate New York, settling in for our second winter season.

✨ Public Sessions at PS21 continue every Sunday at 10:30am in the Black Box Theatre.
No class on 11/2, 11/9, and 12/7 due to performances.
✨ We’re adding monthly classes at a few Hudson studios. Details coming soon.
✨ And for those missing our Empty Space, we’re planning some magical community gatherings with our wellness friends. The first one will be announced soon.

Our space remains open for private and group sessions, so reach out anytime. We can’t wait to reconnect, listen, and breathe together again. 🤍

As many of you already know, we’re in the process of moving our studio space. So for now, we won’t be holding public classes in the barn. But you can still book us for private group sessions! 😊

A Morning of Sound Meditation & Healing

Join author Alicia Johnson and sound practitioners Anna Yang and Alex Artymiak for an immersive experience where the magic and mystery of sound echo within.

Through guided sound meditation, we’ll explore how vibration can awaken wonder — that expansive feeling that opens pathways to play, discovery, and imagination.

Drawing from “Buried Treasure’s” practices of hope and healing, this intimate gathering demonstrates how sound becomes a pathway to revelation, creating space for both literal and metaphorical treasures to surface.

Buried Treasure is available to purchase on-site. Alicia will do a signing and chat after the meditation.
