Thomas Edison, one of history’s greatest inventors, passed away on October 18, 1931, at the age of 84. According to accounts, shortly before his death, Edison opened his eyes, looked toward the window, and spoke these words to his wife, Mina.

Whether you view them as a reflection of hope, peace, or simply a beautiful final thought, they have remained one of the most touching stories associated with Edison’s final moments.

What a beautiful reminder that even at the end of life, there can be moments of wonder and peace.
