Here are some recommendations that we have for our guests today:

•Booth Guests may start setting up at 9:00 AM MDT - the band Latigo will be performing starting at 9 AM MDT and Introductions/Opening Prayer starting at 10:45 AM MDT.

•Make sure to bring your own chairs and umbrellas.

•We will be following Navajo Nation Public Health orders - please take care and be respectful of others.

•We're anticipating partly cloudy weather for Today but there could be warmer temperatures, so please be prepared & stay hydrated. (There will be emergency responders onsite during the event, in any case.)

•There will be a food vendor onsite, but there are a couple of C-Stores only a few miles away from the Jct.

Guest Speaker - Shaandiin Parrish!

Shaandiin Parrish served as the first two-year Miss Navajo Nation under the Office of Miss Navajo Nation from 2019-2021. Shaandiin is from Kayenta, Arizona and is an alumna of Monument Valley High School. Shaandiin holds a bachelor’s degree from Arizona State University in Political Science and a master’s degree in Business Management from the W.P. Carey School of Business at ASU.

In September 2021, after completing her tenure as Miss Navajo Nation, Shaandiin was reappointed to the Arizona State Treasurer’s Office. During her undergraduate studies, Shaandiin worked at the Arizona State Senate, the Navajo Nation Council, the Office of the Navajo Nation President and Vice President, and with several Arizona municipalities. Shaandiin also served the 22 tribal nations of Arizona as the 55th Miss Indian Arizona.

Guest Speaker - Ahsaki Chachere!

A trailblazer in her own right, Ahsaki is the Founder/CEO of Ah-Shi Beauty, the first Native American owned and operated luxury skincare and cosmetics brand in the United States.

Even as a proud dine (Navajo) tribal member and African American woman, Ahsaki has odds against her as she faces social and economic challenges as a dark-skinned Native American. These obstacles gave her the fuel she needed to build Ah-Shi Beauty. Where she showcases that Native Americans/Indigenous people are diverse and that they are not the pervasive image the media continues to perpetuate.

In Navajo, Ah-Shi means: "This is me. This is mine." Ah-Shi Beauty - This is my Beauty! Where her customers set their own beauty standards. She makes it her responsibility that when her customers look in the mirror, they see themselves, feel empowered and continue to love the skin they are in.

As the face of the brand, she is pushing the narrative to show the world that indigenous African descendants are here, and their beauty will be recognized and respected. Ah-Shi Beauty brings the much-needed positive change to the beauty industry. Ahsaki was awarded, Native Business Owner of the Year (2021), Naat’aanii Leadership Award by Dine Pride (2020). She is a pivotal part of the movement that is resetting and reshaping beauty standards, where the beauty industry can now include a tribal member at the table.
