Residents and families are invited to join us Monday, September 7 at 12:30 PM for delicious food, great company, and plenty of fun! We’ll be serving all the cookout favorites—and saving room for three-layer chocolate cake, of course! 🍫🍰

🎈 Who knew a balloon could bring out this much competition?! 😂

Our residents were reaching, laughing, cheering each other on, and definitely showing off those reflexes balloon volleyball ! 💙 It’s amazing how something so simple can turn into such a fun way to get moving, stay engaged, and enjoy a little friendly competition together.

For World Letter Writing Day, we’re putting pen to paper at Artis!Writing or dictating a letter can encourage self-expression, spark conversation, engage language and memory, and create something special to share with the people we love. For people living with dementia, it can be a wonderful starting point for connection. Not sure what to write? Here are some prompts to get you started. 📝

The perfect letter doesn’t need perfect spelling, beautiful handwriting, or even a stamp. Sometimes the joy is simply in remembering, laughing, and sharing the story together.

Dolly Parton spent a lifetime reminding us of the power of love, kindness, and showing up for the people who matter most. In the wake of her passing, we’ve been thinking about something especially important: caregiving is part of so many families’ stories. It can be an act of love, but it can also be complicated, exhausting, and deeply personal. Because of that, she continues to remind us the importance of taking care of the caregiver. That’s why conversations about aging and caregiving matter, not just when a family reaches a moment of crisis, but long before.

At Artis, we believe care is about more than meeting physical needs. It’s about understanding the whole person, supporting families, creating connection, and helping people continue to live meaningful lives.

Dolly’s legacy reminds us how much one person can give to others. Her story also reminds us that behind every family is a very human journey of love, change, and care. We’re grateful for the reminder to keep talking about it.

Like many caregivers, Dolly Parton didn’t take care of her own health while caring for her ailing husband. That’s not unusual, even among people with resources.
