Last week's gathering at the Olympia Timberland Library marked the 4th and final leg of the NeuroStride Foundation Metamorphia: Creative Connections Summer Program, and it became a truly meaningful experience centered on adult reflection, creativity, and connection.
Rather than our usual expressive arts format, this session was facilitated as an experiential art therapy group discussion, where participants explored creativity through unfamiliar and intentionally challenging methods—using the non-dominant hand, blindfolded drawing, timed creative exercises, and reflective group sharing.
We were honored to be joined by adults from diverse life experiences, including a retired veteran of 28 years who is now a commissioned watercolor artist. As each person shared their artwork and process, we witnessed courage, curiosity, vulnerability, and surprising moments of joy.
The beauty of this session was not in creating “perfect” art, but in discovering how we adapt, express ourselves, and connect with others when we step outside our comfort zone.
🖌️ Unique. Reflective. Transformative.
As we close this summer journey, we are deeply grateful to every participant, family, volunteer, and community partner who helped make Metamorphia possible across all four locations.
💚 Four locations. One summer. Countless connections.
Thank you for creating, connecting, and transforming with us.
