🎃 This Halloween, let’s embrace the spirit of transformation! Just as we carve pumpkins to reveal their inner light, we can also reflect on our thoughts and feelings.

Mindfulness invites us to be present, to acknowledge our fears, and to celebrate our strengths. Counseling provides a safe space to explore these emotions, helping us grow and heal.

This spooky season, take a moment to connect with yourself. What masks do you wear? What truths lie beneath?

Happy Halloween! Let’s celebrate the journey of self-discovery. 🕯️

People just want to be heard. Sometimes listening is the ONLY thing you need to do to help someone…❤️‍🩹

Do
1. Be curious. The goal is to understand and empathize with your partner. “I can see from your perspective why…”

2. Reflect back what you hear your partner saying. “So what I hear you saying is…”

3. Ask clarifying questions if necessary.

Don’t
1. Don’t try to predict what your partner is going to say. Write while they are talking if you cannot stop your mind from formulating a response.

2. Don’t try to fix things or solve the problem.

Once you verify understanding THEN you can ask your partner, “Are you open to hearing my thoughts and opinions on this matter or getting advice?”

Tag your partner below so you can practice active listening the next time you have a discussion👇

It’s not just you....

With the CDC now saying that those of us who are fully vaccinated can visit indoors and travel without quarantining, expanding your social circle after being locked down for so long can be anxiety provoking.

According to a Stress in America poll conducted by , about half of us are experiencing some anxiety about going back to in person interactions amid all the uncertainty.

It may be awkward at first, it may be uncomfortable or feel foreign but the more you get back out there the less anxious you’ll feel. Think of it like riding a bike. You have the skill set, it’s just a little rusty.

Wherever you go, there you are. ~ Jon Kabat-Zinn

That’s right, there’s ONE person you’ll never be able to escape...yourself!

Unfortunately if you’re struggling with guilt, shame, low self worth, fear, unmet expectations, hurt, loss, anger or any number of emotions then it might be difficult to be with yourself sometimes.

Don’t haul around baggage everywhere you go, it’s heavy. I know “baggage” is a metaphorical term, but it weighs you down emotionally and often manifests psychosomatically, meaning headaches, fatigue, anxiety, you get the idea.

Release yourself from any past hurt (forgiveness is not forgetting or absolving someone of their behavior) or own up to your mistakes (make amends and move on, even if they don’t want to).

Forgiveness is for YOU, no one else. When you release (insert emotion here) you’ll free yourself!
I share this with you so that you can begin the journey to accepting yourself for who you are and find peace!

What you’ve done in the past DOES NOT define you, what you do NEXT defines you. Meditation and mindfulness is a great place to start. Get quiet, get comfortable and learn to love yourself.

Is there someone in your life that you need to forgive in order to move forward? Is there an apology you need to make? Save this post and start thinking about ways you can begin working towards that. You’ll feel so much lighter if you do!

Your perspective will either become your prison or your passport ~
You may be merely surviving in a prison YOU created if you’re feeling insecure, unworthy, full of regret and shame OR if you’ve allowed your mistakes and failures to translate into limiting beliefs that you consistently reinforce and allow to define you.
How amazing would it be if instead you could feel freedom, peace, joy and possibility.
I share this with you so you can start challenging some of these thoughts (which create feelings and behaviors) and CHANGE your mindset. You write your story, no one else. You’re in charge!
You have the freedom and power to leave this prison you’ve created. Stop being a prisoner of your past.... it was just supposed to be a lesson, NOT A LIFE SENTENCE!
Tag someone who needs to hear this!
