I feel like it's important to normalize doing yoga sequences throughout our day instead of feeling like we always have to show up to the mat. There's definitely value in a 30 minute sequence on your mat, don't get me wrong! But adding little sequences like this can also create a huge impact. Especially when you're dealing with a chronic condition that needs regular reprogramming of our physical body and our nervous system. When you visit a physical therapist, a lot of times they will have you do specific moves several times throughout the day because this is rewiring the pattern that is creating the dysfunction in your body. Enjoy! Let me know how it goes! And if you're interested in my seven day free trial for my pelvic yoga classes,, below, and I'll hit you up with the details!

👉I often get asked if students should wait to do my classes until they are done doing Pelvic PT or Pelvic Physiotherapy.

❤️‍🩹 Answer: If your PT has an organized program for you to do at home, they will want you to wait. Truth is, most won't.

Both Pelvic PT's I've seen have given me 1-2 things to do at home per session and usually it was based on how I was presenting that week. Not a big picture, overall program.

It wasn't until I started doing yoga at home that the physical therapy I was recieving actually started sticking. The therapy would help temporarily, but nothing stayed long term. Again, until I started consistenly practicing things at home.

👉GENTLE DAILY CONSISTENCY WINS THE PELVIC HEALTH RACE.

I took many of those recommendations by my PT's and incorporated them into my classes. I found it much easier to be consistent when I wasn't just following a piece of paper with different moves like a daily checklist.

In short, NO, YOU DON'T HAVE TO WAIT. Unless your PT asks you to. My classes in combination with your PT are a beautiful, comprehensive combination that will move the needle and make things stick. You'll connect with your body on a whole new level and the things they do in your PT sessions will actually land better because your body will be in a better place to recieve it.

Side note - many students show thier PT's my classes and often the PT's will encourage the students to follow them.

That said, listen to your body, always talk with your doctor and if you have specific questions about your situation I'm always here to discuss. Just MESSAGE ME. Don't leave a comment with your story because I don't always get notified.

Comment if you're ready to start your pelvic health yoga journey and I'll give you the info on the trial and where to start!

Good evening yogis! Happy FriYay! I hope you had a wonderful week and get to rest and have some fun this upcoming weekend.

A new class has been added for all members and trialists! Details and link below.

"Tight Hips Express"

This class is focused on grounded longer held stretches. We hold postures that are related to hip mobility for time and utilize myofascial release for the glutes to kick things off. This is the perfect short sequence that will take you right around 20 minutes and gets everything related to tension in the hips including glutes, inner thighs, TFL, quads and of course, pelvic floor.

You'll need: two blocks, have a blanket or something to cushion your knees and a hand towel

By the way, statistics show cleaner dishes can improve your pelvic floor health. You can totally fact check that. 😂😂🤞🏼🤞🏼

EDIT!! Okay, so it you guys have been amazing at schooling me on doing this EVERY time! Apparently it's best to only do it once every 1-3 months for deep cleaning, not everytime. I'll post a screen shot in the comments explaining this further. Thanks for helping a girl out! 🥰

❤️‍🩹HYPERTONIC PELVIC FLOOR – TRIGGERS❤️‍🩹

Anyone who has a hypertonic pelvic floor, or a pelvic floor in a state of tension, knows that it ebbs and flows. And when it’s in pain, there’s usually something that is triggering it. If you can figure out what those triggers are, you’ll be able to navigate your bodies response better.

➡Common Triggers:
- Stress, duh!
- Posture – crossing your legs, leaning on one side all day everyday; slouching
- Heavy weight lifting without counter balancing that with specific stretching
- Performing abdominal exercises incorrectly
- Reverse breathing
- Glutes that don't fire correctly
- Weakness in the glutes, legs & core
- the "H" word, hormones 😒
- A recent infection
- Trauma like surgery or childbirth
- Pain somewhere else -> it's stressful to be in pain
- Travel

To name a few… Some of these things can’t be helped. Some can but it feels like we don’t have enough time in the day to figure out how to address each one.

⭐️ Let me make it super simple by giving you a couple options. ⭐️

1) Follow my videos here and implement 15-30 minutes, 4-5X a week to work on your pelvic health

2) Join me on the mat and let me guide you through the process. Schedule what you can throughout the week, be consistent and you will see change. Follow one of my calendars to make it simple. It's easy to be consistent when it's simple and organized!

Whatever you do, do something every day even if it's only 15 min. Why do I recommend moving everyday? Well you wouldn't NOT drink water today because you drank water yesterday, right? 😝

See you on the mat yogis!

Nothing changes if nothing changes. One of my mentors taught me a long time ago, "DECIDE AND DO."

You don't have to know exactly how. You don't have to be "good at it." You don't have to fully understand the in's and out's of it. But you DO have to DECIDE to begin. The rest will fall into place. Promise. ❤

PS - the #1 reason people go into a assisted living situations is because they can no longer get in and out of a chair. Your future self will thank you for putting in the time now to prevent that. ❤️‍🩹

We are back from vacay! It's good to be home to pups and espresso machine 🐾☕😆

Stretching the tissue beneath your armpits targets the latissimus dorsi (lats) and triceps. This combination improves overhead shoulder mobility and thoracic spine flexibility, relieves myofascial tension and pain, and promotes upright posture by counteracting forward head posture. Plus it just feels damn good 😎😎🩵

You had me at the blow 🤧🤧🤧🤢🤮 Hard pass! 😆

Yoga doesn't stop just cuz I'm on vacay! I brought my pelvic floor with me so I gotta still support her 😎😎🛫🐠🌊

I did not do stability work well on vacation, but I did all of the postures from the class in our membership called "Posture Support" and it's made a really big difference in how my body has adapted to the challenges of vacay.
