Healing is often sold as addition - adding habits, adding mindset, adding tools. But a lot of it is actually subtraction. Releasing the coping strategies, the masks, the versions of you that worked in a context that no longer exists. That loss is real. It's okay to grieve it.

Anxiety is often treated like a thought problem ..."just think differently." But it's a body experience first. The tight chest, the held breath, the stomach that drops before you even know why. Learning to notice these signals is actually one of the first steps in working with anxiety instead of against it.

Save this for when someone tells you it's "just in your head." ๐Ÿค

A huge part of therapy is learning the difference between things you can change and things you're just going to have to make peace with. The second category is longer than most people expect. And weirdly - accepting that is one of the most freeing things you can do.

What's something you've finally stopped fighting? ๐Ÿ‘‡

The most disorienting part of therapy is realizing that some of the things you thought were just "who you are" were actually really smart adaptations to situations that needed them. You're not your patterns. You're the person underneath them.

Avoidant attachment doesn't mean someone doesn't care about you. It means closeness triggers something their nervous system learned to protect against a long time ago. That can coexist with genuine love, and genuine hurt. Both things are real. If this is your situation, it's worth talking through with someone who understands attachment.

High-functioning anxiety is one of the quietest kinds because it disguises itself as competence. From the outside, everything looks great. On the inside, the to-do list never actually ends and relaxing feels like a threat. If you've never considered what's driving you might also be exhausting you - this is worth sitting with.

Your body knows when it's finally safe enough to feel things. The car, the shower, the drive home - these aren't random. They're the first moment of the day your nervous system got quiet enough to catch up. That's not weakness. That's your system working exactly right.

The freeze response is one of the least understood trauma responses because it doesn't look like distress from the outside. It looks like spacing out, going along with things, losing your words. But underneath it, your nervous system is working incredibly hard. Learning to recognize your own freeze patterns is one of the first steps out of them.

Therapy isn't something to squeeze in or apologize for. It's the appointment worth protecting. If you've been putting it off, this is your sign!

We spend so much time overriding our body's signals because we've been taught that feelings aren't facts. But your nervous system isn't making things up, it's pattern-matching based on everything you've ever experienced. When it sends a signal, it's worth getting curious about, not dismissing. Your body was always trying to tell you something.
