QLI’s Tafadzwa “TG” Ndoda dialed the number, and Deputy Cindy Dmyterko from the Douglas County Sheriff's Office (NE) made the call.

Officers, officials, and representatives from all corners of the county responded. They came to meet one of their brethren, Logan Waldner.

While Logan was working as a deputy for the Nobles County Sheriff's Office in Worthington, Minnesota, a distracted driver struck his parked squad car at 83 miles an hour. Logan sustained life-threatening injuries, including a severe traumatic brain injury. He is currently participating in rehabilitation at QLI and making impressive progress.

As a member of our Life Path Services team, TG understands how community, purpose, and identity are essential to our clients’ motivation and emotional well-being. That’s why he reached out to Deputy Dmyterko, who rolled out the red carpet for an inspiring meet and greet and extensive tour of the county headquarters.

Thank you, Deputy Dmyterko, for orchestrating the visit, and to TG for being the spark that ignited it all.

But, most importantly, thank you, Logan, for your service and sacrifice.

In case you missed you missed it...

The vast majority of QLI’s rehabilitation clients move back home. That’s why serving and including each and every family is a crucial part of our program.

As we grow, so does our need for more family housing.

QLI’s capital campaign, Beyond the Promise, includes a 24 room hotel-style facility that will ensure our families can support and be immersed in their loved one’s rehabilitation throughout their stay.

Longtime resident at QLI’s Lied Apartments, Mark Fitzpatrick is proof that any dream is within reach.

Alongside Mark’s devoted volunteer, Gene Pache’, his team at QLI, the supportive crew at the indoor aquatic center, Diventures, and the dream makers from the adaptive diving program called Dive Pirates, Mark took a once-in-a-lifetime plunge.

Nearly two years after suffering a traumatic brain injury in the line of duty, Ferguson Police Officer Travis “T.J.” Brown will receive a specially adapted home from the Gary Sinise Foundation.
