QLI Unrivaled. Relentless. Here. -- Delivering life-changing rehabilitation and care.

After a spinal cord injury left him with complex dysphagia, Jim arrived at QLI with a feeding tube and a newfound fear of swallowing. But through months of training and therapy with QLI’s Zoey Bertsch and speech-language pathology team, Jim regained his ability to safely eat solid foods again.

This victory for Jim is a reminder that swallowing rehabilitation is about more than food. It represents independence, connection, and getting back the elements of life that matter most.

Read the full story for a deeper clinical look at dysphagia rehabilitation, recovery, and the interdisciplinary approach behind Jim’s progress in the first comment below.

QLI residents and team members participated in a beta-test of new voting software and equipment that allows individuals who need modifications to cast a ballot independently.

Election Systems and Software, who developed this innovative technology, is devoted to maintaining voter confidence while enhancing the voting experience for all.

In addition to their ingenuity, we are grateful for the time, patience, and compassion their crew displayed during their visit.

QLI’s Annual In Motion this Memorial Day was a beacon of determination, teamwork, and celebration.

Participants in QLI's rehabilitation program achieved incredible personal milestones — from taking the most independent steps without a walker to traveling their furthest distance independently since injury, and so much more.

A huge thank you to our occupational and physical therapy team for envisioning, organizing, and hosting an unforgettable day filled with obstacle courses, sprints, distance races, and encouragement every step of the way.

Congratulations to all who competed — your hard work and perseverance inspire us all!

Honored to see Tinashe “Nash” Mahupete recognized as the 2026 recipient of the ICAN Leadership Award. Nash’s journey is a powerful reminder that leadership is built through humility, action, and belief in people.

Congratulations, Nash, and thank you for the inspiration and leadership you bring to Team QLI and the community every day.

QLI's legendary FUNdraiser, An Evening at the Fair, returns this September!

It’s a tradition for our creative QLI teams to submit fresh and fun-filled ideas for games and booths.

Last week, we went hog wild and let them know their ideas were selected and will come alive at this year’s fair!

Wanna know what the booths will be?

Stay tuned this summer when we officially announce them!

This story is about more than innovation. It’s about giving people new opportunities, more independence, and hope for what’s ahead. We’re proud to be at the forefront of bringing advanced rehabilitation technology to the people we serve every day.

Thank you to Julie Cornell and KETV for taking the time to tell this story and highlight the future of rehab care happening right here at QLI.

QLI team member Sydney Henry’s dynamic, adaptive dance class is much more than an exercise group. It’s a beautiful combination of physical therapy blended with our innovative Life Path model.

It’s also a vibrant testament that life after a stroke or serious injury can be filled with joy, momentum, and togetherness.

Spring has sprung. We know because QLI's organic, community garden is already flourishing.

This month, featured our epic annual plant sale that offered up a bounty of tomato, pepper, and herb plants and a bevy of beautiful flowers. It was our biggest sale on record, and all of the proceeds fund the garden.

We'd like to recognize Susan Gruenling, whose green thumb, dedication and passion make this wonderful space come to life every year. We'd also like to thank Carla Gress, who grew and donated over 200 tomato plants, marigolds, and basil in her personal greenhouse.

On Sunday, a group of devoted runners from QLI gathered under a brilliant salmon-colored morning sky for The Wings for Life World Run, sponsored by Red Bull.

The Wings for Life World Run raises awareness and money for cutting-edge spinal cord injury research, where 100% of the dollars raised go to the cause.

This year’s run at QLI was spearheaded by Thibaud Coudriou, who is a participant in QLI’s spinal cord injury rehabilitation program. Thibaud is also employed by Red Bull’s exclusive Athlete Performance Center in Los Angeles, and three of his colleagues— Sarah, Jenny, and Marc-Oliver— travelled to Omaha to run with him. Thibaud’s team also included a fellow rehab client, his parents, and several QLI team members.

Thibaud exceeded his goal of raising ten thousand dollars, and the total raised worldwide was over 10.8 million dollars.

We were proud to be a part of this remarkable event, and we are eager to do it again next year!
