I’m always happy and willing to refer your pet back to their vet. 🧑‍⚕️

As an animal chiropractor, I am a member of your pet’s care team. Your veterinarian
is also a member of their care team. Your pet will get the best results when their care
team is on the same page and working together! 🐶

Sometimes, chiropractic may not be working for your pet or we’re not seeing the
expected results. Those cases will always be referred back to your veterinarian for
additional diagnostics or treatment options. 🐱

A real animal chiropractor will know when an animal needs to see the veterinarian.

Did you know a chiropractic adjustment can affect more than just the muscles, bones, and joints?? 🧐 It can even affect the organs and body systems!

Each organ and area of the body is associated with a specific innervation (nerve) due to how the body develops. So, a chiropractic adjustment can affect the organs or other body system by affecting its nerves.

It explains why animals (and babies!) tend to p**p very soon after and adjustment. The adjustment affects the nerves to the bowels, generally leading a bowel movement very quickly.

I will never tell you I am going to fix or change you or your pet’s organ or other bodily dysfunction. If that happens to occur, it’s a side benefit of the adjustment! 😉

There’s generally two “camps” when it comes to chiropractic, science/evidence-based vs philosophy-based. In general, I would say I fall into the evidence-based category: using the best available research and guidelines to determine treatment.

However, I never ignore or forget the philosophy side. Philosophy gives you the WHY and the ART of chiropractic. Why do I render this treatment? What is the purpose? Without a purpose, what’s the point of a treatment? This is especially important when there isn’t much research or “evidence” on a specific topic or condition.

At this point, the research into animal chiropractic is minimal. There are many reasons for this, including lack of funding, being a relatively new organized profession, and minimal researchers in the field. However, the evidence is overwhelmingly supportive of animal chiropractic for a variety of conditions. I combine this evidence with the philosophy of chiropractic to help give your animal the best possible treatment plan and outcome!

These are some of the best exercises you can do to maintain your horse’s back. The earlier you start and the more consistent you are, the better results you’ll see.

🔹Ground poles should be done 10-15 minutes 3-4x/week. Want to up the challenge? Make them cavalettis!
🔹Back your horse daily.
🔹Belly lifts daily. Start scrunching your fingers on your horse’s side and then move under the belly.

In my opinion, anything with a spine should be under regular chiropractic care!

Chiropractors assess for and adjust subluxations, which is the chiropractic term for motion restriction in a joint. Motion provides the majority of input from the body to the brain. When there is a lack of motion in an area, there is a lack of input to the brain. Why does this matter? The brain controls EVERYTHING in the body. If there is a lack of input, the output is a guess. Your brain cannot accurately control or influence all of the functions of the body if it doesn’t have the correct information.

Specific chiropractic adjustments restore proper motion, thereby restoring normal nervous system communication and function. Stress leads to subluxations; since no body is immune to stress, every body can benefit from chiropractic.

It seems to be trending more common in healthcare that when patients disagree with
their doctor or care plan suggested, they don’t address the disagreement and instead go incognito. People have many reasons for why they disagree with recommendations and don’t always feel comfortable explaining that to the doctor Which is okay!!

My goal is to create an environment where we collaborate for you and your pet’s care. The care plan or treatment I recommend is what I believe through your pet’s presentation, my experience, research, and your goals is the best option to get you or your pet better and hit your goals. If you don’t agree with my recommendations, have financial constraints, or have questions, I hope you always feel comfortable asking or telling me! I will never judge or pressure you and always welcome open communication. I also will not take it personally if you disagree with me. I would much rather have an open discussion on how to make chiropractic work for you (or not). However, if you don’t feel comfortable and prefer to go incognito, I understand
and that’s okay! Just know I still care about you and your pet and you can always reach out anytime!

It’s no secret that gas prices are soaring. As someone who drives an average of 300-400 miles per week, the increase in cost has been brutal. I’ve been absorbing the increases to this point, but unfortunately am not able to continue to do so as gas prices continue to rise.

What does this mean for you? My travel fees will be increasing. I will be very upfront with you about the cost and will continue to keep them as low as possible! If you would like to avoid paying travel fees, I see small animals out of American Animal Hospital and have a barn in Elkhorn for equine haul-ins.

If you have any questions or concerns, please let me know!
