Changes in appetite are common in people living with dementia.
Sometimes a person may forget they have not eaten. Other times, confusion, changes in taste or difficulty recognizing food can make meals feel unfamiliar or overwhelming.

Simple routines and small cues can often help encourage eating:
🍗 Keeping meals on a consistent schedule
📺 Looking through food magazines or watching cooking shows before meals
🍽️ Helping with simple tasks like setting the table or preparing ingredients

These small activities can help stimulate appetite, create familiarity and make mealtimes feel less stressful for both the individual and their caregivers.

Sudden confusion in an older adult is not always dementia.
Urinary tract infections can sometimes cause rapid changes in memory, behavior, confusion, agitation, or alertness in seniors, even when typical UTI symptoms are not obvious.

In some cases, a treatable infection may look like sudden cognitive decline. That is why major or sudden mental changes should never be ignored or automatically assumed to be “just aging.”

Isolation can quietly deepen the challenges of dementia.

When an older adult loses regular connection, they may also lose routine, stimulation, confidence, and joy. Even small moments of conversation, familiarity, and presence can help protect dignity, comfort, and quality of life. Reach out with a visit or phone call to a loved one. It takes such a small amount of time and you're making such a HUGE emotional difference in their day. ❤️

😴 Many people living with dementia experience more nighttime wakefulness and may feel more alert in the evening or overnight. These changes can be confusing and frustrating for both individuals and their caregivers.

Keeping a consistent daily routine, getting natural daylight, and staying active during the day can sometimes help support healthier sleep patterns.
