✨ NEW INTERN ALERT! ✨
A few words from Alexis:

"I don't know about you *yet*, but being a human is tricky!! Full of twists and turns, ups and downs, and when the occasional clearing or common ground hits... it's gone the next. And in my opinion that's the hardest part - sometimes the only constant thing in our lives is change.

My goal as a counselor is to help others (and frankly, myself) be a consistent flexible force in our own lives. My approach combines authenticity, curiosity, and a genuine belief that every person already has strengths worth building on. With over a decade of experience supporting children and families, a background collaborating alongside Occupational Therapists, and formal training in mind-body philosophies including yoga, I take a holistic approach to counseling that honors the connection between thoughts, emotions, and the body.

Because no two people are the same, I strive to create a space where clients feel seen, supported, and free to be themselves! Whether through creativity, conversation, or skill-building, I hope you leave feeling courageously capable and content.

Whether your child needs support navigating big emotions, your teen is feeling stuck, or you're a young adult trying to make sense of life's current chapter, I'd be honored to walk, boogey, or simply just sit alongside you."

🌱 Ages 4–24
🌱 $25/session private pay only
🌱 Telehealth or In-Person times available
🌱 Supervised Counseling Intern of Jen Ortmeier

Being a middle school girl can be a lot. Friendships change, confidence comes and goes, life gets busy, and sometimes you just need a place to be yourself.

Real Talk is a laid-back, supportive group where girls can talk about real life, make meaningful connections, and remember they don't have to figure everything out alone. We'll spend time chatting, creating, playing games, and exploring whatever topics are important to the group that day.

No pressure. No judgment. Just a space to show up, be yourself, and connect with others who get it. 💜

✨ Free to participate
✨ Open to middle school girls
✨ Mondays in June & July starting 6/15

See flyer for details and registration information!

One of the hardest parts of parenting is believing every behavior says something about us.

A tantrum in the grocery store.
Yelling at bedtime.
Hitting a sibling.
Not listening after we’ve asked five times.

It’s easy to feel overwhelmed, embarrassed, or like we’re getting it wrong.

But children are still learning emotional regulation, impulse control, communication, and coping skills. Their behavior is often communication, not a reflection of our worth as parents.

What matters most is not perfection.
It’s how we respond in the moment.

When we pause, regulate ourselves, repair after hard moments, and lead with connection, children learn emotional safety, resilience, and trust.

And honestly, many of us are learning this while healing the way we were raised too.

“Our kid’s behavior isn’t always a reflection on us as parents.
But our reaction to their behavior is.”

These are emotional skills. And we can practice them.

Ready for calmer parenting, emotional regulation tools, and connection-based discipline support?

Crying gets a bad rap—but it serves a purpose! 💧

Before we had words, we had tears.
As babies, crying is how we communicate, connect, and get our needs met. It’s not “too much”… it’s survival.

And even as we grow, that system doesn’t just disappear.
Crying can help release stress, regulate our nervous system, and signal that something inside needs care or attention.

What if, instead of shutting it down, we got curious about it?
What is this feeling trying to tell me?

Tears aren’t a problem to fix—they’re a message to understand 💛

To the mothers and mother-figures:

The ones showing up, holding it all together (sometimes barely), loving deeply, and trying again each day—we see you 💛

Your presence, your care, and your effort matter more than you know.

Today, we celebrate you—and all the quiet, powerful ways you show up.
Happy Mother’s Day 🌷

May is Mental Health Awareness Month 💚

A gentle reminder that mental health is health.
It’s in our thoughts, our emotions, our relationships, and the way we move through the world each day.

Taking care of your mental health doesn’t have to be big or perfect—sometimes it looks like pausing, asking for support, setting a boundary, or simply noticing what you need.

Wherever you are in your journey, it matters.
And you don’t have to navigate it alone.

Let this month be an invitation to check in—with yourself and with each other ✨
