What if researchers could safely recreate the complex movements that cause people to lose their balance in everyday life?

At Creighton University, that’s exactly what they're doing.

Using a custom built six-degree-of-freedom motion simulator, faculty and student researchers are studying how the vestibular system helps us maintain balance. Their work could lead to more personalized rehabilitation for people with dizziness and balance disorders while helping reduce falls among older adults.

The research also gives Doctor of Physical Therapy students the opportunity to work with technology found in only a few laboratories worldwide, preparing them to advance patient care through innovation and discovery.

For Naia Manibusan, receiving her white coat marks the beginning of a new chapter in her journey as a healthcare professional.

Naia was drawn to pharmacy by her interests in chemistry and math and her desire to help others. Her experience working at the Creighton University Campus Pharmacy gave her the opportunity to see pharmacists put patients first and reaffirmed her passion for the profession.

As she begins this next chapter, Naia is looking forward to growing alongside her classmates and embracing the responsibility of providing compassionate, high-quality care to every patient she serves. 💊🤍

For Brianna Yamada, SPT, Creighton DPT Class of 2029, receiving her white coat represents much more than a milestone.

Brianna’s experience recovering from a sports injury and the physical therapists who supported her through that journey inspired her to pursue a career in physical therapy. She hopes to provide that same encouragement and individualized care to her future patients.

As she begins her journey at Creighton, Brianna is looking forward to hands-on learning, meaningful connections and the opportunity to grow both personally and professionally.

Her ultimate goal is to bring the knowledge and experience she gains at Creighton back to the community and culture that raised her. 🌺🤍
