Humility is

"Perpetual quietness of heart. It is to have no trouble. It is never to be fretted or vexed, irritable or sore; to wonder at nothing that is done to me, to feel nothing done against me.

"It is to be at rest when nobody praises me, and when I am blamed or despised, it is to have a blessed home in myself where I can go in and shut the door and pray to my Father in secret and be at peace, as in a deep sea of calmness, when all around and about is seeming trouble. "

Hello again, this site informs me that I have not posted anything for 62 days. But now the daily Deedle is back. I have been in the hospital recovering from major back surgery. That’s my excuse and I’m sticking with it.
Today’s daily reflection is very. Relevant to where I am now. I learned a lot about being humble in the hospital; having people work on you and give you medicine and give you bathes Teaches you a lot about being humble and accepting God’s will. I had to have two major operations on my back, and I was totally powerless over the situation. I did, however, maintain my spiritual condition by reading my meditation, doing my daily prayer, and occasionally joining zoom meetings. I said the third step prayer and the seventh step prayer and I also said the serenity prayer. This is how I was able to accept myself as I was, having no control over what was going on yet trusting in my higher power that he would make all things right if I surrendered to his will.

Daily Deedle

The arch,ah the arch. There’s something about an arch that draws me to look inside and see what’s there. This Daily Reflection quotes Bill W saying the concept of God as the Father and we as His children is the keystone of the arch we pass through to freedom. I visualize Steps one and two on one side, Step three as the keystone, and Steps four and five as the other arms. If we think about it, this makes sense as these first five steps form a solid doorway-we admit, we believe,we turn over, we looked at ourselves, and we confessed. Steps six through twelve form a pathway for us to follow to freedom.

Deedle of the day
When I read this meditation in Daily Reflections, I visualized a door opening to a vast expanse of possibility. The reading says that the barriers to this realm of the spirit are self-centeredness and a focus on worldly matters. I would add fear to those barriers; fear of losing that with which we have become comfortable and fear that this spiritual realm will not heal us. That is the yawning gap between Steps 2 and3- we believe God will.restore us to sanity (reasonable thinking not overly influenced by emotions) and yet the fear of stepping out into this unknown realm of the spirit. In order to take Step 3, fear must be replaced with a working faith that God will take care of us in all circumstances.
