Most people blame sciatica on the back. But the leg pain is a sign, not the cause. The sciatic nerve starts in your lower back. It runs through the hip and down the leg. The real problem can be anywhere along that path. It could be a disc in the low back, a stuck joint in the hip, or a tight muscle deep in the glute.

This is why plain stretching often doesn't help. Sometimes it even makes things worse. If a nerve is already sore, pulling on it can hurt more.

We find where the pain really starts before we treat it. Most people feel better in three to six weeks.

We've helped people in West Omaha, Millard, and Elkhorn since 2008. Read more here: https://beckerchiro.com/sciatica/

People ask how I ended up doing this work. It started with an injury.

In college I hurt my back lifting. The pain in my back and chest got bad enough that I genuinely thought I was having a heart attack. My trainer sent me to a local chiropractor. The pain backed off almost right away. I was 19 and a little stunned that it worked that fast.

I've been practicing in West Omaha since 2008. A lot of the patients I see found their way here the same way I found chiropractic: through pain, and a little skeptical it would actually help. That's a fine place to start. Skeptical patients tend to ask good questions.

Most plantar fasciitis advice stops at the foot. Stretch the arch, ice the heel, buy the insert. For some people that's enough. For a lot of people it isn't, and they end up cycling through the same heel pain for months.

The heel is usually where the pain shows up, not where it starts. Tight calves, stiff hips, and the way you walk all feed into it. Treat only the foot and you leave the actual cause in place.

We look at the whole chain from the hip down, not just the spot that hurts. Most patients are out of pain in four to six weeks of consistent care.

If your neck and shoulders are tight by lunch, it's usually not a strength problem. It's where your screen sits.

Your head weighs 10 to 12 pounds when it's balanced upright. Tilt it forward to read a screen and the muscles in the back of your neck have to hold a load closer to 40 pounds, all day, every day.

Two fixes that cost nothing. First, raise the top of your monitor to eye level so you're looking straight ahead instead of down. Second, stand up for one minute every half hour.

The neck isn't the whole story with tech neck, but your desk setup is where most people should start. If the stiffness keeps coming back, an exam can tell you what else is going on:

Tech neck is the most common modern cause of chronic neck and shoulder pain. Here is the science, the signs, and how to fix it.

Summer is the easy season to fix a stiff lower back, and the fix isn't complicated. It's walking.
Here's the part most people don't know: the discs in your spine have no blood supply. They get their fluid and nutrients from movement. Every step gently squeezes and releases them, so fresh fluid moves in and waste moves out. Sit still for hours and the opposite happens.
Twenty minutes of walking a day does more for a stiff lower back than most of what people try first. You don't need to walk fast or far. Doing it most days beats one long walk on the weekend.
We've treated back pain across West Omaha, Millard, and Elkhorn since 2008. Full write-up here:

Walking is one of the most underrated treatments for back pain. Here is why a daily walk works, how to start, and what to avoid.

As spring turns into summer, the months of May through July consistently see a sharp rise in motor vehicle accidents, fueled by increased travel, road construction, and holiday traffic. Unfortunately, many injuries sustained during these incidents aren’t immediately obvious—making prompt care essential to prevent long-term complications.

Here are eight reasons why chiropractic care is critical following an accident:
1. Injuries Are Not Always Obvious
While cuts or broken bones are easy to detect, injuries like whiplash may take hours or days to surface. Early evaluation helps identify hidden issues before they worsen into chronic pain.

2. Reduces Inflammation
Soft tissue injuries, such as micro-tears in muscles and ligaments, often don’t appear on X-rays. Chiropractic adjustments can help reduce inflammation and ease discomfort by supporting the body’s natural healing response.

3. Non-Invasive Treatment Option
Chiropractic care offers a conservative, non-surgical approach to recovery. Early treatment may help patients avoid more invasive procedures later on.

4. Reduces Scar Tissue Build-Up
After an injury, scar tissue can form and limit mobility. Targeted chiropractic techniques can help break down this tissue, improving flexibility and comfort.

5. Pain Relief Without Drugs
Rather than masking symptoms with medication, chiropractic care focuses on addressing the root cause of pain—helping patients heal without relying on potentially addictive drugs.

6. Supports Whole-Body Pain Relief
Spinal adjustments may help reduce tension and discomfort throughout the body, not just at the injury site, promoting overall physical well-being.

7. Helps Prevent Long-Term Pain
Untreated injuries can develop into chronic conditions. Early chiropractic intervention can reduce the risk of long-term complications and persistent discomfort.

8. Restores Range of Motion
Inflammation and misalignment can restrict movement. Chiropractic adjustments help restore mobility, allowing the body to recover more efficiently and naturally.
