Alix walks through what to check on any car seat, whether you just bought it or it has been in the garage a while:

- Most seats install two ways, with the lower anchors, that strap that clicks onto the metal bars in your vehicle, or with your regular seat belt.
- Lower anchors have a weight limit. On the seat in this video it is 35 pounds. Once your child passes the limit printed on your seat, it is time to move to a seat belt install.
- A seat belt install is safe at any weight. So if your vehicle's anchors do not line up with your seat, just use the seat belt.

Your manual is always the final word, since limits vary by brand. Not sure about your install or when to turn the seat around? Ask us or visit safekidsnebraska.org.

You can also visit an in-person car seat check to ensure your child is safely secured. Schedule an appointment by calling us at (402) 917-6944!

📣 We're hiring: Part-Time Medical Receptionist!

Nebraska Home Pediatrics & Parents is looking for a Part-Time Medical Receptionist — and we built this schedule for someone who wants school-hours mornings Monday–Thursday (done before lunch!) plus one full day on Fridays. 🏫

🕗 The schedule: Monday–Thursday: 7:20 AM – 11:30 AM (home by lunch!) Fridays: 7:20 AM – 5:00 PM

💵 $18–20/hour — plus real benefits most part-time jobs don't offer: ✅ PTO + paid holidays ✅ IRA with up to 3% employer match, fully vested from day one ✅ Employer HSA contribution toward your health coverage

You'd be the friendly face of our front desk — greeting families, scheduling appointments, answering phones, and keeping our mornings running smoothly. No medical experience required — we'll train the right person. High school diploma or GED is all you need. 💙

If you're organized, warm, and great with people (or you know someone who is — tag them! 👇), we'd love to meet you.

📩 Apply: send your resume (PDF) to [email protected] or stop by and say hi!

"Family-centered." That's the word Mariah used to describe us, and honestly, we couldn't have picked a better one ourselves.

Mariah, Brian, and their girls Zoe and Olivia all call NHP&P home, and that's the part we love most. When Mariah says the whole family can come to one place for great care, she means it literally: she and Brian see Alix as their primary provider, too!

Caring for the whole person and the whole family. That's the goal every single day.

Thank you, Barrett family, for letting us be your healthcare home!

School sports practices are in full swing and it is still 90 degrees out!

Watch for extreme thirst, headache, dizziness, cramps, dark urine, or a kid running on empty. Drink before practice, take breaks on a schedule, and add electrolytes for long hot sessions.

When fluids by mouth are not keeping up, we do IV rehydration in clinic for kids and adults. No ER trip needed.

Call (402) 917-6944 to schedule or if you have any questions about dehydration.

Turn the box over before you buy it!

Alix recently received her Car Seat Safety Technician Certification, and here is one thing that surprised her: no law requires car seat accessories to be crash tested. Some are. Some are not.

Always be sure to read the fine print. Questions about your seat? Bring them to your next visit or visit safekidsnebraska.org.

You can also visit an in-person car seat check to ensure your child is safely secured. Schedule an appointment by calling us at (402) 917-6944!

New parenthood comes with a lot of questions. And a lot of second-guessing about whether they're worth asking.

The Suey family said it best: you feel validated here. Not rushed. Not brushed off. Every question about a brand-new baby gets a real answer from people who know your family.

That's the kind of care every family deserves.

If you’re a new parent or about to become one, Nebraska Home Pediatrics & Parents is here for you every step of the way. 🏡

Infant, convertible, or rotating? Our very owned certified car seat technician, Alix, walks through the three most common car seat types!

Infant seats: rear-facing, detachable carrier, minimum weights range from 4 to 5 pounds.
Convertible seats: start rear-facing, turn forward-facing later, higher limits so they last longer. Slim options: help if you're fitting three across.
Rotating seats: the whole seat turns toward you, which saves your back.

The best seat is the one that fits your child, your car, and your routine. Questions? Bring them to your next visit or visit safekidsnebraska.org.

You can also visit an in-person car seat check to ensure your child is safely secured. Schedule an appointment by calling us at (402) 917-6944!

We have seen a LOT of low ferritin this summer. Ferritin is stored iron, and it is the first thing the body spends when supplies run low, so a kid can be running on fumes long before a standard blood count blinks.

Swipe for what low iron actually looks like, the foods that fill the tank, and the vitamin C trick that helps the body absorb way more of it.

Ferritin is not on a routine blood count, so it has to be ordered on purpose. Book a back-to-school visit and we will check it!

When the Schullers first came to us, Finnley was a baby. A few years later, when she was diagnosed with cancer, Erin texted them to check in every single day after.

That's what we mean when we say we do things differently here. Not just appointments and charts, but people who know your family and stay close when it matters most.

Thank you to the Schuller Family for trusting us with your family’s care and for sharing your story.
