ModernEyes Eyecare & Eyewear is a new, locally owned optometric practice. We provide comprehensive eye health exams including diagnosis and management of many systemic and ocular health issues, contact lens fitting and assessments, and "red eye" office visits for people of all ages. As an eyecare provider, Dr. Reed is committed to providing quality eye examinations and educating her patients on th

e importance of proper ocular health. Dr. Reed is also a provider for both InfantSEE and See To Learn examinations for children. In addition to educating her patients on proper ocular health, Dr. Reed believes it is important to have stylish eyewear that you not only love, but that meets your lifestyle needs. At ModernEyes Eyecare & Eyewear, you will find unique, quality frame lines for just about any budget. Dr. Reed earned her Doctorate of Optometry in 2013 from Southern College of Optometry in Memphis, Tennessee, after completing externship training in ocular disease, contact lens fittings, and vision therapy. Originally from Papillion, Nebraska, Dr. Reed has enjoyed being back in "The Good Life". Dr. Reed and her husband, Josh, are involved in various community activities and are active members of their church. They also enjoy spending time with their son, Brayden, and cheering for the Huskers. Dr. Reed also enjoys her early mornings kickboxing and strength training at FXB. When she has time, she also likes to hit the links and sneak in a round of golf.

Last week, Dr. Reed and Brian had the opportunity to participate in another OneSight clinic in DesMoines, Iowa. In two days, this incredible volunteer team provided full eye exams for nearly 540 people, over 90% of whom needed glasses. Many of these people experienced their first eye exam.
They caught several significant overall health issues as well as eye health issues, and the clinic partner will help make sure these people get the help they need. Many of the glasses were able to be made on site while the patient waited thanks a great lab team.

We always enjoy being able to help those who need it, and are grateful to be included on OneSight clinics. Between Dr. Reed and Brian, they think they’ve served on 25+ clinics with OneSight, plus others involved in Nebraska Foundation for Children’s Vision and Special Olympics clinics.

Thank you for allowing us to remember our “why” for optometry by participating in events like this!

I’ve spent the majority of the week in Phoenix, Arizona, for North Central States Optometric Society, American Optometric Association (AOA) President’s Council, Optometry’s Meeting and AOA House of Delegates. As current President of the Nebraska Optometric Association, I had the honor of bringing in Nebraska’s state flag to House of Delegates. I also served as Nebraska’s Delegate to vote on resolutions and new AOA Trustees. The most exciting part, though, was celebrating Dr. Teri Geist’s installation as President of the American Optometric Association. She’s the first person to represent Nebraska, so it’s extra exciting. And even better that she’s a huge Husker fan. We can’t wait to see what she and the rest of the AOA leadership can do for optometry and our patients, not only in Nebraska, but on a national level!

Happy Birthday to our Office Manager, Candi!

Today was the first day we’ve all been in the office together at the same time since before Candi’s surgery and radiation, and we couldn’t have been happier to be together. We celebrated with Javi’s and cheesecake for lunch, and it was soooo good. We are so fortunate to legitimately enjoy spending time together and making memories as a work family.

I just love my team! Oh, and our other two doctors who weren’t working today are pretty great, too!

We are grateful for our patients every day, but especially those who make our day when they say thank you in a special way! Gestures like this are beautiful reminders of how much we love being eye care providers and that we can make a difference in people’s lives outside of their glasses, contacts and eye health.
