Beginning sophomore year, nursing students gain hands-on clinical experience in hospitals, specialty clinics and community healthcare settings across Omaha and beyond. By graduation, traditional BSN students complete more than 1,000 clinical hours preparing them to step into healthcare environments with skill and confidence.

Please join us in welcoming Kathleen Fear, DNP, CRNA, to Creighton Nursing!

With more than 25 years of experience in nurse anesthesia practice, education and leadership, Fear brings a wealth of expertise as assistant program director to the new Doctor of Nursing Practice - Nurse Anesthesia (DNP-NA) program. She joins Creighton from the University of Iowa and is a nationally recognized leader whose work has advanced simulation-based education, patient safety, clinical competency and excellence in nurse anesthesia education.

As we prepare to welcome the inaugural cohort of students to the DNP-NA program, Fear's leadership and commitment to educating the next generation of Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetists will help shape a program grounded in academic excellence, clinical excellence and Creighton's Jesuit mission of service to others.

Creighton nursing graduates experience a 94% NCLEX pass rate, and students complete more than 900 clinical hours in diverse healthcare settings before graduation.

Thanks to the support of the Nebraska Blue Foundation, Creighton University College of Nursing is expanding its rural clinical education program, giving ABSN students the opportunity to work alongside rural healthcare providers and community organizations to improve health where it's needed most.

Beginning in Spring 2027, students will travel to rural communities to complete immersive experiences that pair hands-on clinical care with community health programming, identifying local health priorities, creating evidence-based prevention initiatives and partnering with communities to improve long-term health outcomes.

Together, we're helping build healthier rural communities while preparing the next generation of nurses to serve across Nebraska. 🌾
