A lot of people come to see us thinking LASIK is the only way out of glasses and contacts. LASIK is a great procedure, and it’s one of seven we offer at Kugler Vision in Omaha. If it isn’t the right match for your eyes, though, we keep talking.
EVO ICL
When someone comes in with a high prescription, thin corneas or eyes that are always dry, EVO ICL often comes up. We place a small lens inside your eye, behind the iris and in front of your natural lens. We don’t remove any corneal tissue, and the lens can come out if it ever needs to (say, if new technology comes up in the future!).
Refractive Lens Exchange
Somewhere past 50, a lot of people find their up-close vision slipping. RLE replaces your natural lens with an advanced artificial one that corrects your prescription. Because your natural lens is gone, you’ll never develop a cataract later on.
SMILE
If you’re nearsighted, with or without astigmatism, ask us about SMILE. The laser forms a tiny disc inside the cornea, and we remove it through a small opening with no flap. Some patients notice fewer dry eye symptoms.
PRK
If your corneas are on the thin side or a little irregular, PRK is one we often bring up. We reshape the cornea with a laser and never create a flap, which is why athletes and anyone with the potential for eye injury are often candidates.
Blended Vision
Over 40 and tired of hunting for your readers? We can set one eye for distance and the other for up close, and your brain learns to use each one for what it does best. It can be paired with LASIK, PRK or RLE. We’ll talk through how you use your eyes day to day to see if it fits you.
Laser Cataract Surgery
If glare at night keeps getting worse, things look a little blurrier every year, and a new pair of glasses didn’t help, a cataract may be the reason. With the right IOL, you can also be free of bifocals and readers.
