World Multiple Sclerosis Day – May 30

May 30 is World Multiple Sclerosis (MS) Day, a global day focused on raising awareness and supporting people living with MS.

Multiple sclerosis is a neurological condition that affects the brain and spinal cord. It can cause symptoms like fatigue, numbness, vision problems, balance issues, and changes in thinking or mood. MS looks different for every person, which can make it hard to understand from the outside.

World MS Day is a reminder that education and support matter. Learning the facts helps reduce confusion and stigma, and it encourages earlier diagnosis and better care. It also brings attention to the need for continued research and treatment options.

At Neurology Consultants of Nebraska, we care for patients living with MS at all stages of their journey. Our team focuses on managing symptoms, monitoring changes, and helping patients maintain the best possible quality of life.

May is Huntington’s Disease Awareness Month

May is Huntington’s Disease Awareness Month, a time to raise awareness and support for individuals and families affected by this condition.

Huntington’s disease is a genetic neurological disorder that affects the brain. It can cause changes in movement, thinking, and mood over time. Symptoms often begin in adulthood and can slowly worsen, making daily life more challenging for both patients and caregivers.

Awareness is important because Huntington’s disease is often misunderstood. Learning more helps families feel less alone and supports continued research, education, and care options.

At Neurology Consultants of Nebraska, we provide ongoing care for patients with complex neurological conditions, including Huntington’s disease. Our team focuses on symptom management, education, and helping patients and families navigate care with compassion and support.

May is National Stroke Awareness Month

May is National Stroke Awareness Month, a time to focus on stroke prevention, warning signs, and recovery. A stroke happens when blood flow to the brain is blocked or when a blood vessel in the brain breaks. It is a serious medical emergency, but quick action can save lives and reduce long-term effects.

Knowing the warning signs of a stroke is important. Remember F.A.S.T.
Face drooping
Arm weakness
Speech difficulty
Time to call 911

Other symptoms can include sudden trouble seeing, dizziness, confusion, or a severe headache. If you or someone near you has these symptoms, get emergency help right away.

At Neurology Consultants of Nebraska, we care for patients before and after stroke. We help with diagnosis, treatment planning, and long-term neurological care. Education and early action are key to better outcomes.

To learn more about stroke prevention, symptoms, and recovery, visit www.stroke.org.

This May, take time to learn the signs of stroke. Awareness can save a life.

Rare Disease Day – February 28, 2026

Rare Disease Day is recognized every year to raise awareness for people living with rare conditions and the families who support them. This year, Rare Disease Day takes place on February 28, 2026, with the message “More Than You Can Imagine.”

A rare disease is one that affects a small number of people, but together, rare diseases impact millions worldwide. Many of these conditions affect the brain and nervous system, making early diagnosis, education, and specialized care especially important.

At Neurology Consultants of Nebraska, we care for patients with both common and rare neurological conditions. We believe awareness matters. When people understand rare diseases, it leads to better support, stronger research efforts, and improved care for those affected.

We encourage our patients and families to take a moment to learn more about Rare Disease Day and how you can help spread awareness. Visit www.rarediseaseday.org to explore resources, stories, and ways to get involved.

For more information about our neurology services or to connect with our team, visit www.nebraskaneurology.com.

Together, we can help shine a light on rare diseases and the people living with them every day.
