You don’t need another story about sobriety. You need a way out.

Alcohol has already taken more than you’re willing to admit. And deep down… you know it.

The problem isn’t deciding to quit. The problem is what happens after. The quiet moments. The excuses. The voice in your head that tells you this time is different.

It’s not.

In EFD: Every Fuking Day*, Nick Rucker takes off the guard rails and calls out the exact moments that keep you stuck—and shows you how to shut them down.

This is not motivation. This is not theory.

This is a system for discipline, built for the moments when nobody’s watching.

Because sobriety isn’t a one-time decision.It’s a standard you live by.

Every Fu*king Day.

For the past couple of years, I’ve been compiling notes—writing in the margins of hard days, sleepless nights, and the part of recovery no one posts about.

Holding the Line came out of that space.

It wasn’t written from a place of victory.
It was written from the stretch where progress stopped feeling real, motivation dried up, and the only goal was not going backward.

This book is about the middle.
After the crisis.
Before things make sense.
When you’re sober, showing up, doing the work—and still exhausted by it.

It’s for the days when strength is quiet.
When discipline has to stand in for hope.
When staying put is the hardest thing you’ll do.

If you’re rebuilding your life, your mind, or your identity—this book is for you.

You don’t need to be fixed.
You just need to hold the line.

That’s how people survive long enough to heal.

Setbacks Create the Best Opportunities, and Discipline Creates Freedom

Setbacks have a way of knocking us down. They disrupt plans, test patience, and make us question if we’re on the right path. But here’s the twist: setbacks aren’t dead ends—they’re turning points, and they often create the best opportunities.

Every setback is an opportunity in disguise—a chance to reassess, grow, and prove to yourself that you can adapt and overcome. The most inspiring success stories weren’t built on smooth paths; they were forged through trials and challenges.

But here’s the key: it takes discipline to turn those setbacks into breakthroughs. Discipline keeps you grounded when emotions run high. It’s the quiet force that pushes you to get back up, keep working, and find the silver lining in what seems like failure. Discipline is what allows you to rise above, and through it, you create freedom—freedom to pursue your dreams, overcome obstacles, and build the life you’ve always envisioned.

Setbacks are not the end; they’re setups for something greater. Trust the process, stay disciplined, and embrace the truth that discipline is what transforms obstacles into opportunities and setbacks into success. The road won’t always be easy, but with discipline, you’ll find freedom—and with freedom, you’ll achieve greatness.

The Wolf Within

The first sip whispers like an old flame’s breath,
A warmth that stirs the cold to life, defying death.
It courses through veins like a long-lost friend,
Promises of laughter, no stories to end.

The fire ignites, and I’m alive,
Each swallow a spark, a reason to thrive.
The room bends, blurs, becomes my stage,
Every face a companion, a page in my rage.

I’m the life, the soul, the jester’s crown,
Everyone’s friend as the bottle goes down.
Confidence blossoms, reckless and free,
The mask of invincibility envelops me.

But shadows creep as the glass runs dry,
The wolf awakens beneath the lie.
Teeth sharp, hunger raw, eyes dark with sin,
A beast unleashed from the depths within.

I howl at the moon in a feral haze,
Autopilot steering my endless maze.
Actions spill like crimson ink,
A tale too grim to overthink.

Morning breaks, the wolf retreats,
Leaving me shattered, incomplete.
I am the man who wears regret,
Chains of shame I can’t forget.

The mirror shows a haunted face,
A man who’s lost the saving grace.
But still, the wolf waits in the night,
Tempting my breath to reignite.

My personal motto has been “leading those willing to help themselves.” I realized when I was drinking I was not willing to do the work to get better.

If someone then had attempted to help me then it would’ve been a waste of time. I was not willing to help myself.

If you’re a drunk and are not actively trying to get sober and instead are waiting for some miracle to just take a bottle out of your hand, then you might as well just keep drinking.

I’m training for an ultra marathon currently and know there is no miracle that will force me to get up at 4 am to just move my legs down the road.

Accept that no one is coming to save you and that you have to figure this s**t out on your own. You’ll be amazed at what it does for your confidence.
