Active Hearing Health

Active Hearing Health Omaha’s premier audiology practice; women and veteran owned. We're slightly obsessed with better hearing, balance, and tinnitus! Women and veteran owned.

**Meet Your Local Ear Experts**

We're slightly obsessed with better hearing, balance, tinnitus, and auditory processing. We’re not just any audiology clinic—we’re nerds who’ve been decoding the mysteries of the auditory system since 2003. If it involves ears, we’re into it. Our approach? Way beyond the "raise your hand when you hear the beep" kind of test. We look at how your ears work with your

brain, your body, and your life. That means we may check out things like balance, dexterity, cognition, and how well your brain processes sound. It’s all about the full picture—so we can tailor a treatment plan that actually fits your life, not just your audiogram. If hearing aids turn out to be the hero of your story, don’t worry—we’ve got all the latest widgets. We work with all seven major hearing aid manufacturers. Best part? We’re not tied to any one manufacturer or corporate chain. That means you get more choices, more control, and no pushy sales tactics. Oh—and we’ve got flexible payment options and even hearing aid rentals, because everyone deserves to hear well without stressing their wallet.

Ever wonder why your ears feel pressure when you’re sick? Meet the Eustachian Tube.

This small tube connects your middle ear to the upper throat, helping regulate pressure and drain fluid. When a viral infection like a cold or the flu occurs, the lining of the Eustachian Tube can swell, causing fluid buildup and that uncomfortable pressure.

There are ways to help relieve it, but it’s always a good idea to check with a medical professional for the best care.

👂 Hearing Loss by the Numbers

Did you know hearing loss is one of the most common health conditions in the U.S.?

📊 More than 50 million Americans have some degree of hearing loss
📊 It’s the 3rd most common chronic condition—more than diabetes or cancer
📊 Nearly 1 in 5 people who could benefit from hearing aids actually use them
📊 And on average, people wait 9 YEARS before seeking treatment

Hearing loss doesn’t just affect your ears—it can impact your communication, relationships, and overall health.

The good news? Early treatment and support can make a life-changing difference.

👉 If you’ve been turning up the volume, asking people to repeat themselves, or struggling in noisy environments—it might be time for a hearing check.

📍 We’re here to help every step of the way.

Congratulations to our very own Dr. Cindy Johnson who won the primary in LD10 last night. General election, here she comes! We are so proud of you Dr. Cindy!

I am honored, humbled, and grateful for the resounding support from the voters of District 10, shown in last night’s results. Thank you to everyone who made yesterday possible, whether through volunteering, spreading the word about my campaign, donating, or, importantly, voting! This campaign is built on the strength of our community and the promise of a better tomorrow. We will carry this momentum forward to November to deliver for our hard-working neighbors: by tackling our broken tax system, strengthening our amazing public schools, and lowering costs so that every family can thrive. I cannot wait to get back out and meet more of my neighbors and continue to build our coalition.

The Nebraska Speech-Language-Hearing Association (NSLHA) joined Governor Jim Pillen at the Nebraska State Capitol to recognize May as National Speech-Language-Hearing Month and to celebrate the impact of communication health across the state.

NSLHA President, Dr. Noel Griffith, highlighted the vital role speech-language pathologists and audiologists play in helping Nebraskans of all ages improve communication, hearing, balance, and swallowing.

“Communication is fundamental to how we connect, learn, and participate in the world around us,” Griffith noted, emphasizing that communication disorders affect millions of children and adults and can influence academic success, relationships, and overall quality of life.

As part of the ceremony, Governor Pillen recognized two individuals for their perseverance and dedication in overcoming communication challenges.

Robert Donnelly was honored for his determination following a 2022 stroke that resulted in aphasia and apraxia of speech. Through consistent therapy, daily practice, and the use of augmentative communication tools, Robert has demonstrated remarkable commitment to improving his communication abilities.

Shanita Rice was also recognized for her resilience and progress following a stroke. Through years of therapy and continued effort, Shanita has made meaningful gains in her communication skills while maintaining a positive attitude and strong sense of determination.

Both honorees joined NSLHA at the Capitol and were personally recognized by Governor Pillen for their hard work and inspiring journeys.

National Speech-Language-Hearing Month serves as an opportunity to raise awareness about communication disorders and to recognize the professionals who provide life-changing care to individuals across Nebraska

Your hearing health is connected to your brain health.

Research continues to show a strong relationship between untreated hearing loss and cognitive decline. When hearing loss is addressed early, it helps keep the brain actively engaged in conversation, social interaction, and everyday life.

A hearing evaluation is quick, painless, and can provide valuable information about your overall health.
