It may sound surprising, but researchers have detected trace amounts of certain medications and pharmaceutical compounds in some water sources.

💧 WELCOME TO WATER WATCH WEDNESDAY! 💧

Do you really know what’s in the water coming into your home?

Most of us turn on the faucet every day without giving it much thought. But water quality can vary depending on where you live, the water source, treatment processes and even the journey the water takes before it reaches your faucet.

Here in Douglas and Sarpy Counties, testing and water-quality reports identify a variety of contaminants and substances that may be present in our local water systems.

Some are regulated. Some may be present at levels below federal legal limits. And some have health-based guidelines that are different from those legal limits.

That’s exactly why we’re starting Water Watch Wednesday.

At Omaha’s Water Store, one of our biggest goals is education. We want you to understand what may be in your water, where it comes from and what options are available if you choose to address it.

Each Wednesday, we’ll take a closer look at one contaminant at a time and break it down in a way that’s easy to understand:

💧 Ever wonder why freshly made hydrogen-rich water can sometimes look cloudy?

Those tiny bubbles are one of my favorite things to show people!

Molecular hydrogen (H₂) is an incredibly small molecule that can be dissolved right into drinking water. And unlike some of the big claims you may have heard about “alkaline water” over the years, molecular hydrogen is now an area of active scientific research for its potential role in supporting the body's response to oxidative stress.

And here's something important:

It isn't simply about having a high pH.
It isn't about making water as alkaline as possible.
It's about what is actually IN your water. 💧

That’s why I’ve become so passionate about educating people about the difference between filtered water, alkaline ionized water and hydrogen-rich water.

The water in this glass was freshly produced by our Vesta H₂ system. That cloudy appearance doesn't last long because molecular hydrogen is a tiny gas and begins escaping from the water — one reason hydrogen-rich water is best enjoyed fresh.

After all these years in the water business, I still believe hydration is one of the simplest places we can start when we're thinking about everyday wellness.

We’ve been hearing more about Cyclospora lately, so I wanted to share this helpful information from Multipure.

The good news? Your tap water probably isn’t where you need to be concerned. Cyclospora outbreaks are much more commonly associated with contaminated fresh produce.
