Some milestones over the years:

The Nebraska Counseling Association was originally founded and filed with the Secretary of State office on April 1st, 1968 as the Nebraska Personnel and Guidance Association. Original signers on the articles of incorporation were Richard O'Neal, Don O. Clifton, and James Keller. Yes, that's right, Don Clifton of the Clifton Strengths Finder and Gallup Inc fame!

In 1978 we refiled with the SOS office as a 501(c)(3).

In 1984, we were rebranded as the Nebraska Professional Counselor Association.

Lastly, in 1995 we officially became the Nebraska Counseling Association.

The American Counseling Association (ACA) is profoundly disappointed in today's ruling from the U.S. Supreme Court overturning Colorado's ban on conversion therapy. Despite the ruling, the evidence remains clear: conversion therapy is harmful, discredited, and unsupported by science, and its risks to client well-being are well documented. ACA, SAIGE and other leading mental health organizations remain committed to ethical, evidence-based, and affirming care, and will continue to oppose practices that violate these standards of care.
