🧐 Did You Know? The "Invisible" Border of 1775
"Before 1775, the Appalachian Mountains were a massive 1,500-mile wall that almost no European settler had crossed. That all changed with a narrow pass we now know as the Cumberland Gap.
Here are 3 quick facts to kick off your Monday:
*The Great Migration: Between 1775 and 1810, an estimated 300,000 settlers walked or rode through that one tiny gap in the mountains to reach the frontier.
*Boone’s Path: Daniel Boone didn't 'discover' the gap—he followed ancient trails used by bison and Native Americans for centuries to blaze the famous Wilderness Road.
*The Alabama Connection: Many families who crossed into Kentucky and Tennessee eventually made their way down into Alabama, leaving a paper trail across four different states!
If your ancestors were among those 300,000 pioneers, their stories are often hidden in 'burned' courthouses or shifting state borders. That’s where a professional eye comes in.
🌳 Is your family tree stuck at the Gap? Let’s break through that brick wall together.
