Today was one of those moments that reminds us just how special our community is. ❤️🇺🇸

As a small rural ambulance service, we don’t always have the equipment needed for every task. We recently needed help raising a new American flag on our 25-foot flagpole, so we reached out to our community.

Within no time, Skylight Dirt Works responded with a message that truly touched our hearts. They told us they would be honored to help us get our beautiful flag flying again.

What made this even more meaningful was the incredible coincidence behind it. The owner of Skylight Dirt Works had recently crossed paths with one of our paramedics through his own company. Sometimes life has a way of bringing people together, and this felt like one of those serendipitous moments.

Today, our flag is proudly waving thanks to their generosity, kindness, and willingness to serve their community right alongside us.

From all of us at Oologah-Talala EMS, thank you, Skylight Dirt Works for stepping up when we needed a hand. Your support means more than you know, and we’re grateful to be part of a community where neighbors help neighbors.

Almost forgot ! They had to drive the forklift 6+ miles to get to us!
Please join us in thanking Skylight Dirt Worksks for their generosity and community spirit! 🇺🇸💙

☀️ HEAT ALERT: Stay Safe in Extreme Temperatures ☀️

Oklahoma heat can become dangerous in a matter of minutes. Whether you’re working outside, exercising, or enjoying time with family, take steps to protect yourself and those around you.

💧 Stay Hydrated

* Drink plenty of water throughout the day.
* Avoid waiting until you’re thirsty.
* Limit alcohol and excessive caffeine.

🌳 Stay Cool

* Take frequent breaks in the shade or air conditioning.
* Wear lightweight, light-colored clothing.
* Avoid strenuous outdoor activity during the hottest part of the day (typically 11 AM–6 PM).

👶🐶 Never Leave Children or Pets in a Vehicle
Temperatures inside a parked car can become deadly within minutes—even with the windows cracked.

👴 Check on Others
Older adults, young children, and those with chronic medical conditions are at higher risk for heat-related illness.

🚨 Know the Warning Signs
If someone experiences confusion, stops sweating, has hot, dry skin, loses consciousness, or has a body temperature above 103°F, call 911 immediately. Heat stroke is a medical emergency.

At Oologah-Talala EMS, we’re here when you need us—but we hope you’ll take a few simple precautions to stay safe and enjoy your summer.

❤️ Stay cool. Stay hydrated. Stay safe.

One of the most dangerous places for officers to be is on the side of the road.

Despite the Benardo-Mills Law being passed in 2023 requiring vehicles move over for emergency vehicles in the State of Oklahoma, some drivers continue to fail to move over or slow to a SAFE speed when passing emergency vehicles on the side of the road.

According to NHTSA and the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund 17 of the 44 law enforcement officers killed in 2024 in traffic related crashes were struck outside their vehicles.

Slow down and move over. It's not just a courtesy. It's the law.

The Bernardo-Mills Law or OK State Statute §47-11-314 states that a failure to move over and/or slow to safe speeds for stationary emergency vehicles and other vehicles displaying flashing lights will result in a $1000 fine for first offense and $2500 for subsequent offenses if convicted.

4th of July is right around the corner!
🎆 We like seeing fireworks… not seeing you because of fireworks. 😅

Do us a favor this Fourth of July:
💥 Keep the fireworks pointed at the sky.
💧 Keep a bucket of water nearby.
🚫 If it doesn’t light the first time, let it go. It’s not worth the main-character moment.

Celebrate hard. Think harder. We’ll all enjoy the holiday a little more if the only thing lighting up tonight is the sky. 🇺🇸✨

Have fun, be safe, and try not to earn yourself a memorable medical story.

Protect their paws!

On hot sunny days like this, surfaces like concrete and asphalt heat up quick. Keep your dogs in the grass or avoid going for walks until the sun gets low and it gets cooler.

These measurement photos are from a few years ago on a day with temperatures in the upper 90s.

Sun’s out, fun’s out -- but don’t let the heat play you!

Drink water like it’s your job, rest like a pro, and keep your cool while staying active this summer.

Hot days are for smart safe moves!

As the temps start to rise….
Don’t forget about your pets! They get hot too! 🐶💦🥵

Panting is part of the way dogs sweat. But if they are panting heavily, become wobbly, have brick-red gums, or collapse, they could have heat exhaustion or heat stroke.

If you spot these signs, follow these steps:

- Cool them down using a water hose.
- Stop cooling them once their temperature goes down to 103 degrees.
- Bring them to the vet as soon as possible.

Keep our Pet First Aid app handy this summer to keep your furry friend safe in hot weather.
