For individuals living with Alzheimer's disease or another form of dementia, a fall can affect much more than physical health. It can make someone hesitant to participate, less willing to move around, or unsure of their surroundings.

At The Lantern at Morning Pointe, fall prevention starts with getting to know the person. By understanding how residents move through their day and recognizing changes as they occur, our teams can take steps to help reduce risks before a fall happens.

Dad jokes, root beer floats, and plenty of laughter made for a wonderful Father's Day celebration! 🥤😄❤️

Residents and families gathered for an evening of fun during our "Dad Jokes and Root Beer Floats" dinner, complete with a nostalgic soda shop atmosphere and plenty of smiles. The sweet treats and vintage touches sparked conversations and brought back fond memories for many in attendance.

Our team joined in the fun by dressing in 1950s diner attire, helping make the evening even more special. We were honored to celebrate the fathers and father figures in our community and thank them for the lives they've touched and the stories they continue to share. 🎶✨

🎉 What a special day for Happy Valley and the families we serve!

We were honored to celebrate the Grand Opening of The Lantern at Morning Pointe Alzheimer’s Center of Excellence, Happy Valley, GA, alongside residents, families, associates, community leaders, and friends from across the region.

This milestone expands access to specialized memory care for Walker County seniors and families navigating Alzheimer's disease and other forms of dementia. With two levels of memory care, Lamplight for the early stages and The Lantern for the later stages, residents can receive personalized support designed to meet them where they are while promoting purpose, engagement, dignity, and quality of life.

The celebration featured remarks from community leaders and partners representing Walker County, GA Government Board of Commissioners, the Walker County Chamber of Commerce, the Alzheimer's Association, and Happy Valley Farms, as well as special music by the Joyful Sounds Senior Choir and Wesley Crider, a family testimonial from Beth Hess, and a flag ceremony presented by the Panther Battalion Army JROTC from Official Ridgeland High School.

Thank you to Executive Director Melissa Bartlett, our associates, entire care and support team, and everyone who joined us in celebrating this exciting new chapter for Happy Valley.

What does it mean to truly "Sense the Difference"? 💙

Life Enrichment Directors and Lantern Program Directors from across Morning Pointe Senior Living recently gathered in Collegedale, Tennessee, for a conference focused on enhancing the resident and family experience.

Discussions centered on welcoming new residents, creating meaningful traditions, enriching dining and activity experiences, strengthening family connections, and telling the stories that bring our communities to life.

As part of our "See the Difference" session, participants took part in a photo challenge designed to strengthen storytelling through photography. The photos featured here were selected as winners, capturing four unique perspectives: a posed photo, a candid moment, a storytelling interaction, and an action shot.

A special thank you to Collegedale Church for graciously hosting this interactive and educational conference. 🌿✨

When a person living with Alzheimer's disease or another form of dementia becomes upset, anxious, or focused on a particular concern, redirecting can help shift the interaction in a positive direction. Rather than arguing or insisting on reality, this technique focuses on understanding the emotion behind the moment and gently guiding attention toward something comforting, familiar, or engaging.

It's one of the many tools memory care professionals use to help individuals feel safe, supported, and understood.
