Calling all nurses!!

We are short on volunteers to attend a funeral of a nurse tomorrow to perform a Nightingale tribute.

If any nurses have been thinking about attending a tribute to see what it's about, tomorrow would be a great time to experience a Nightingale Tribute. There will be 2 members who have attended many tributes who will be able to walk you through it. Please spread the word to your nurse friends!

CALL TO SERVICE: Gwendolyn Neal Reeves LPN

Gwendolyn was an LPN for over 25 years, earning her degree from Wallace Community College in 1997 or 1998. She also later earned a bachelor's degree in business management.

She served the nursing profession at Flowers Hospital in Dothan, Summit/Jack Houston Hospital, Columbus Regional/Piedmont Hospital in Columbus, Amedisys, an LTAC facility in Florida, and North Alabama Medical Center in Florence (LPN, infection control). She then moved back to Russell County where she served as a school nurse at Russell County Middle School and High School.

Gwendolyn's funeral will be this Saturday July 18 at 1100 EST (1000 central) at Gaines Chapel AME Church in Phenix City. Please respond if you are able to attend.

If anyone would like to attend the first statewide NHG conference, please respond! A rough estimate of head count is needed soon. This will be a great experience as we all get a chance to spend some time with our sisters in nursing across the state! 🤍

🩺Happy National Nurses Week from the Nurses Honor Guard of East Central Alabama!

We are grateful for every opportunity to honor the nurses who have gone before us — those who dedicated their lives to serving their patients and communities with compassion, strength, and selflessness, regardless of background, race, financial status, religious beliefs, or political preferences.

To all nurses serving today: thank you. Thank you for the difficult, challenging, and often exhausting work you do each and every day. Thank you for the holidays missed, the long shifts, the sleepless nights, and the countless moments spent away from your own families so you could care for someone else’s loved one.

Your sacrifices do not go unnoticed. We see you, we appreciate you, and we are honored to celebrate you this week and always.
