Mr. Arthur Lee "Smiley" Lockhart was born on August 7, 1929, to the late Mr. Arthur Lockhart and Mrs. Sibbie Cherry Lockhart.

At an early age, he accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior and joined Mount Traveler Baptist Church. Later, he united with Bell Missionary Baptist Church in Auburn, Alabama, where he faithfully worshiped and remained a devoted member until his health no longer permitted him to attend regularly.

Affectionately known as "Smiley," he was united in holy matrimony to the late Lucille Jackson Lockhart. Their union was blessed with five children, and together they built a legacy of love, family, and cherished memories.

On Saturday, July 25, 2026, Mr. Lockhart peacefully departed this earthly life in Lafayette, Alabama, leaving behind a lifetime of treasured memories.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his beloved wife, Lucille Jackson Lockhart; his son, Ronald Lockhart; his brothers, Eddie B. Lockhart, Allen (Richard) Lockhart, and t; his sister, Mary Willie Lockhart Driver; and his grandson, Farlanda Pitts.

He leaves to cherish his precious memory his loving children: Meretta (Hugh) Giddens, Linda Lockhart, Janet Pitts, Virginia (Wilbert) Payne, Sibbie (Charles) Brooks, Deborah Grimes; one devoted sister, Mildred Byrd.

He also leaves a legacy of grandchildren: Keiza Mitchell, Marcus Giddens, Shannon Lockhart, Tracy Lockhart, Antionett Pitts, Raven Pitts, Whitney Pitts, Audrey (Marcus, Sr.) Marshall, David (Bridgett)...

Terry Lee Woodson was born on March 9, 1959, in Auburn,
Alabama, to the late Doc Sylvester Woodson and Janie B.
Woodson. He was the youngest of eleven children born to this
loving union.
At an early age, Terry dedicated his life to Christ and united with
Green Chapel Missionary Baptist Church in Auburn, Alabama,
where he began his spiritual journey and developed the faith that
remained with him throughout his life.
Terry received his formal education in the Auburn-Lee County
School System and graduated from Loachapoka High School with
the Class of 1978. Even while in high school, Terry demonstrated a
remarkable talent for driving by working as a substitute school
bus driver. His passion for driving would become a lifelong
career. Following graduation, he was employed by West Point
Pepperell in Opelika, Alabama, where he served in various
capacities. He later became an 18-wheel truck driver for Young
Plant Farm in Auburn, Alabama. Terry also developed a passion
for operating heavy equipment, working in landfills in both
Valley, Alabama, and Atlanta, Georgia. He eventually joined J.B.
Hunt as an over-the-road truck driver, a profession he truly
enjoyed until his health no longer allowed him to continue.
Terry was united in marriage to Teresa Woodson, and through
this union he lovingly embraced her three children as his
stepchildren.
Affectionately known as "Big Money Terry," he was a kindhearted,

Julia Rose Nelms was the fifth child born to the late Alex, Sr. and Bessie Harge Smith on September 15, 1933, in Davenport, Alabama. She accepted Christ at an early age and became a faithful member of Rehobeth C.M.E. Church in Davenport, where she began a lifelong journey of faith, service, and compassion.
Julia received her education through the Lowndes County School System and graduated from Calhoun
Laboratory High School of Alabama State College on May 29, 1953, in Calhoun, Alabama. She continued her education at Alabama State College (now Alabama State University), where she met the love of her life,
Roosevelt Nelms.
On September 15, 1957, Julia and Roosevelt were united in holy matrimony by the Reverend William C.
Dobbins at St. Paul Methodist Church, surrounded by their family and friends. Following their marriage, they established their home in Opelika, Alabama, where they built a life rooted in faith, hard work, and love for their community.
A Life of Service and Dedication
Julia began her career at Woolworth's in downtown Opelika, where she faithfully served as a cook for more
than 25 years until the store closed on December 31, 1982, after serving the community for five decades.
During her years at Woolworth's, coworkers affectionately described Julia as:

"A little lady with an energy and vigor that is hard to crush. She tends to look on the bright side of things and feels no anger because of her situation."
