When mental health challenges begin to affect safety, stability, or daily life, knowing the right path forward matters.

Different levels of care are designed to meet different levels of need. For some, that may mean the structure and support of inpatient care. For others, an intensive outpatient program may provide the right support while allowing them to continue living at home.

Both are designed to help individuals receive care, build stability, and take the next step forward with support.

Oceans is here to provide steady, compassionate care at every stage of need.

Across Oceans Healthcare, our Market Development team plays an important role in building relationships that support access to behavioral health care.

Recently, our Market Directors came together to connect, collaborate, and share insights from the communities they serve. Their work helps strengthen partnerships with providers, hospitals, community organization, and local leaders.

We are grateful for the dedication of our Market Development team and the meaningful work they do each day across Oceans.

Today, we are proud to spotlight Tameka Babineaux for National Nurses Week, whose approach to nursing is centered on presence, kindness, and making sure each patient feels seen, heard and valued.

“To me, nursing is more than just a career; it's being there for people when they need support, comfort, and compassion the most. It's about providing patient-centered care while making the patient feel seen, heard, and valued.

I'm proud to be a nurse because the smallest act of kindness can make a big difference in someone's day. Being able to help patients through difficult times and seeing their progress is one of the most rewarding parts of this job.

Being a nurse at Oceans means being part of a team that genuinely cares about patients. It's important to work in an environment that demonstrates compassion, teamwork, and where we can truly help patients feel supported on their journey to healing.”

Thank you, Tameka, for the compassion and care you bring to your patients, your team and Oceans.

This National Nurses Week, we are proud to spotlight Gwen Thomason, LPN, who has been part of the Oceans team for 15 years.

Gwen began her career as a mental health technician before becoming an LPN, and throughout her time at Oceans, she has served in many roles - from med nurse and floor nurse to infection control, staffing support, phlebotomy, and now Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) nurse.

For Gwen, working in mental health care is about being present for patients during some of the most vulnerable moments in their lives.

“I feel like that is when I can really make a difference,” Gwen shared. “I try to gain their trust by being honest and up front with them. I implement structure, boundaries and dependability.”

Her current role as an IOP nurse has become one of her favorites because it allows her to spend more time building relationships, supporting treatment, and contributing to meaningful progress.

“We are able to bond and build trust, which helps the most in their treatment and well-being,” she shared.

Gwen also credits her work family for making her time at Oceans meaningful.

“I feel blessed to be in this field and have the opportunities that I have been given working here at Oceans,” Gwen said.

Thank you, Gwen, for the dedication, experience and heart you bring to your patients, your team, and Oceans.

For National Nurses Week, we’re recognizing the nurses whose dedication shapes the care experience across Oceans.

Today, we are proud to spotlight Gretchen Armstrong, whose approach to nursing is grounded in compassion, presence, and a deep commitment to serving others.

"Nursing is more than just a profession to me - it is my passion. It gives me the opportunity to give back for everything that has been given to me throughout my life. I feel truly honored to be a nurse. Being able to support others and know that I may have made a difference in someone’s life is incredibly rewarding.

Mental health is something every healthcare professional will encounter during their career, and I have been fortunate to witness firsthand how nursing can positively impact patients’ lives. Being present in the moment for my patients, actively listening to them, and providing compassionate care is what drives me every day.

Oceans' has given me the opportunity to make a meaningful impact in my patients’ lives. They have supported our community by recruiting individuals who share the same passion and goals that I do. They have also provided many of us with a platform to help change the way mental health is viewed within our communities and to advocate for compassionate, patient-centered care."

Thank you, Gretchen, for the compassion and dedication you bring to your work each day.
