The future of healthcare isn’t about replacing caregivers—it’s about empowering them.

Meeting Prof. Mari Velonaki at the AI 2030 Conference in Chicago was inspiring. As an Internal Medicine physician, I’ve always believed empathy and human connection are essential to healing.

Today, social robotics is making that vision a reality by supporting rehabilitation, encouraging social engagement, and helping older adults maintain independence in assisted living and healthcare settings.

I am excited for the future of healthcare becoming smarter—and more compassionate.

I hope you are all doing well. Thank you so much for reaching out and for your kind concern; many of you noticed my absence from social media recently and have been asking what I’ve been up to.

The past year has been a period of significant transition for me following the passing of my mother. As many of you know, she was an integral part of my life, managing my household and helping raise my two daughters for years. Her support allowed me to maintain a full practice while caring for my family, and I miss her dearly.

Since retiring, I have found great joy in focusing on the smaller things in life. For the past two years, I have been crocheting beanies for an organization that transforms them into character wigs for children undergoing chemotherapy. It is a deeply rewarding cause that I am proud to support. I also recently purchased a sewing machine and am currently enjoying the process of learning how to use it properly.

Additionally, Dr. Hah and I have been traveling extensively. He has been invited to teach and lecture at various conferences, and I have truly enjoyed accompanying him. These trips have allowed me to learn so much about the history of Egypt and several European countries. This past March, we were in Vienna, Austria, where we attended a Strauss concert—a wonderful experience for a music lover like myself.

I have not posted on this page in quite some time, so I was truly surprised to see how many of you came across this post. Reading through the names brought back a flood of wonderful memories from our time together—I genuinely miss you all.

This is very sad. My children went to St. Mary’s. It was such a nurturing environment for children to grow. I hate to see this for the community.

We are saddened by the passing of Ms. Anne who was gracious to share nearly 30 years working with us until we both retired. She was most dependable, loyal, dedicated to her work and was a beautiful person inside and out. She will definitely be missed by many. Prayers to Katie Granger Swanton and her family.

Many of you know how much I love to crochet. Well I came across a wonderful group that is perfect for me to belong. The Magic Yarn Project
Here we make beanies and wigs for children who lost their hair due to medical illness. I am finally crocheting with a purpose.
I have been making beanies but today I finished my first wig. I just want to share with you. And maybe some of you may want to join me.
This is what retirement is for.
