Meet Karteedria “Tudy” Polk, RN DCO

Dedicated and compassionate nursing leader with two decades of experience, specializing in geriatric care.

My journey began in 2006 as an LVN Charge Nurse (The Meadows Nursing and Rehabilitation) , where I discovered a profound passion for serving the elderly population. Driven by a commitment to clinical excellence, I transitioned to Registered Nurse through an upward mobility program in 2010 (Lamar State College Orange).

Since then, my career has been defined by leadership and advocacy. After serving as an Assistant Director of Nursing, I was promoted to Director of Nursing in 2016—a role I continue to hold today with immense pride. To me, geriatric nursing is a calling; there is never a dull moment, and the wisdom and spirit of my residents make every day rewarding.

I am a firm believer that the strength of a facility lies in its people. I am incredibly fortunate to work alongside a dedicated "work family" whose collaboration and support make even the most challenging days seamless. Together, we strive to provide a standard of care that honors the lives of those we serve.

"Healing comes from the heart, not just the hands."

Meet Kristen Ware, BSN, RN (RN Supervisor)

She received associate’s degree in nursing from Lamar State College Orange, Texas in December of 2020. Completion of the Vocational Nursing program and licensure occurred September of 2013 from Lamar State College Orange, Texas.

Meet Lori Egan, LVN (weekend charge nurse)

19 years in long term care has taught me that nursing is so much more than medications and charting. Nursing is compassion, patience, advocacy, and showing up for people on some of their hardest days.

I’ve always believed in treating my residents the way I would want someone to treat me or my own family members..with kindness, dignity, patience, and love.

I’ve laughed with residents, cried with families, held hands during goodbyes, and built bonds that last far beyond a shift.

Being a nurse isn’t always easy, but it has always been worth it. After 19 years, my heart for this work is still just as strong.

Happy Nurses Week to all the nurses who continue to give so much of themselves every single day. 💙🩺
