We knew the diagnosis. The statistics. And that the road ahead would likely end with one of us walking into Heaven first.
We had to choose that we were still going to live. Not someday. Not when things got easier. Not when fear disappeared. NOW.
We chose to laugh, hold our babies tightly, take the photos, go on the walks, celebrate small moments, and thank God for every sunset we were given.
Life truly is a v***r. Here one moment, gone the next. When you come face to face with eternity, you realize how little actually matters besides loving God and loving people well.
We refused to spend our days only grieving what might come. We wanted to fully live the days God had already placed in our hands and trust that He has us.
Suffering taught us this. Joy and sorrow can exist together. Hope can live inside heartbreak.
And even in the shadow of death, Jesus is still faithful.
Every single day becomes a gift. Every hug matters. Every “I love you” matters. Every smile matters.
So if you’re waiting for the perfect moment to really live, don’t. Tell people you love them. Take the trip. Hold your people close. Laugh while you still can. Praise God while you still have breath in your lungs.
We are all walking Heavenward.
None of us know who will arrive first.
